Combat Sights
Hi brand new to forum and am getting ready to buy a five seven usg. Already own a PS90. Am curiuos if the combat sights are as good as the adjustable, dont like the way adjustable sights dig in when ccw. I also dont want to get the version that is a lot less accurate due to the sights. Any help will be appreciated THANKS
Re: Combat Sights
I am not sure which load the Fixed sights are regulated for, but given the difference in point of Impact between ss197 & 195 I'd go adjustable. Not to mention if you start loading your own ammo. I carry my adjustable sitghted 5.7 in an IWB holster with little discomfort.

Fixed are zero for ss195.R-71 wrote:I am not sure which load the Fixed sights are regulated for, but given the difference in point of Impact between ss197 & 195 I'd go adjustable. Re: Combat Sights
I guess my next question is are the adjustable as sturdy(not like revolver adjust sights) as the combat. or will I have to worry about CCW constantly changing where they are set(like S&W sights)

Re: Combat Sights
The POI difference can be substantially different, especially if you are using ammo from EA. Check out this thread to see:

And FWIW, I CCW mine with adjustable sights pretty much all day every day and I barely know that's it's there. No digging occurs whatsoever. Of course YMMV.

Re: Combat Sights
Is there a value difference between fixed and adjustable sights? I find myself needing to lower the profile of my FsN as much as 0.5". What is the height difference between the two? This would also be a ccw issue. How about night sights? Are they higher or lower than the factory fixed sights?

Our replacement rear night sight blade is the same height. They are higher of course then the fixed sight.

Re: Combat Sights
I have never changed sights on a pistol. Is it something easily done or would I have to send it to EA. They look like they are sturdier than the stock adjustable. Are they or is it just how they look. Guess last question would be are they strong enough to be used to rack the slide using a pants pocket like on shouldered combat sights? :ponder:

Re: Combat Sights
My stock adjustable sights are plenty strong, and quite accurate.
Would it be a fair trade, my slide for one with fixed night sights? The fixed sights do seem tobe short enough for my needs, especially if I remove the magazine.

Re: Combat Sights
The version with the adjustable sights has a height of about 5.7 inches (per FNH USA), and the version with fixed sights has a height of about 5.4 inches, so the height difference between them is about 0.3 inches or so.Mister Freeze wrote:Is there a value difference between fixed and adjustable sights? Re: Combat Sights
Yes, fixed sights should be more durable than adjustable sights; but durability shouldn't be an issue with either version.haligan101 wrote:They look like they are sturdier than the stock adjustable. Are they or is it just how they look.
Target Sites to Combat Sites
Good day everyone, I apologize if this question has been asked before. Is it possible to swap from Target to Combat sites with the USG model (the model prior to MKII) Additionally - is there a source to purchase the combat sites from in order to make this switch?
Thank you kindly in advance.

Re: Combat Sights
Good luck, I've been trying to trade off my adjustable sights for fixed for years, no one has come through on a deal.
I am curious, when people say there a huge POI shift between 197/195/EA stuff, what sort of range are we talking about? I don't know about all of you, but I use pistols at 20 feet or less, anything more than that and it's rifle-thirty.

Re: Combat Sights
Noticeable shifts @ 15 yds,
Extreme POI shifts at 25 yds.
As in over 8 inches.
I consistently shoot 9mm pistols at 100yds+, so any pistol I own has to have adjustable sights. Even my G26 has adjustable sights.
Everyone's different; and if I only used pistols at 30 feet and under, I'd probably get fixed sights; less moving parts.

Really we have had fixed nights sights in stock for years for MK1 and older pistols.

So you'll trade me? I know you guys sell them, we've talked about it, but I'm looking for a straight up trade.panzermk2 wrote:DoubleJ wrote:Good luck, I've been trying to trade off my adjustable sights for fixed for years, no one has come through on a deal.

No since they are night sights. I can't trade straight up for OEM adjustable that cost me a lot less.
