If anyone else upgraded to Life with this deal, keep us posted when you get your packet.

There was no intended malice or ill intent with my original posting..neither was there an intention to inspire a pissing contest..however...reality is such that we are dealing with an extraordinarily expensive hobby/pastime. Anyone that can afford a SCAR carbine, PS90, FSN...that isn't a duty firearm given the cost of optics, ammo, toys, ought be able to scrape up the full $1K for an NRA life membership...at least my view is that the preservation of rights to pursue a life long interest isn't free...each to their ability....but the cost of that right may hurt...and the burden ought be shared..period..no intention to be pejorative...but $1K is less than any FNH long are I know of that I would bet almost everyone here owns one of.

I am sure you will be and thank you for joining....it important for everyone to join....the point I was trying to make is that shooting is an expensive hobby for most of us in addition to what we may own for self defense....I would hope the everyone that can afford to, for the price equivalent of one firearm could invest in preserving rights. If the $700 saved off the cost of a life membership could be allocated to your State Association, or any other shooting related organization of your choice it would certainly help...and anyone else that can do so ought consider it.....living in Illinois I can share first hand experience with regard to what can be taken away...or in the case of CCW never permitted in the first place.

We got our daughter her Life Membership when she was like a week old. They had a really good deal going at $500.00 to renew Jay's & bring someone on board 11 years ago.

Still haven't gotten the boys theirs yet because I am waiting for another sweet deal to come along.

I will never get one because I have personal issues with the NRA but they do fight the fight when there is press involved :(

One point that I have not seen made is the value of having a member for life. Even if life memberships were selling for $100, the fact that the NRA has dramatically increased their membership, and will have many of those members on their roles for life, gives the NRA additional clout and power. If you represent 5 million members instead of 2 million, I think the politicians have to take notice of that.

I just re-upped my annual membership back in March. Thanks to the OP for posting this since I was able to jump on it and not have to worry about annual renewals anymore! I also joined my State Rifle Association. I got a 3 year family membership for $85.

NRA says they are 6-8 weeks backlogged, so don't forget to update this thread in July. :D

Nothing but cheap? I do not even have a job. Maybe you should learn something about the person you are insulting instead of being ignorant. I could care less how much money you have given, you think that is supposed to impress me? And, no, 300 is not 500 rounds of ammo for me. I will not pay that price for anything but .308 and larger anymore.

If I was able to afford to do so that would be one thing. I purchased my PS90 years ago when I had a job and the money to do so. My Fiveseven was given to me as a gift, as I could not afford to buy one but the person (fiance :D ) knew that I really wanted one. 300 dollars for a life membership when my monthly income is less than that 300 doing side jobs to make SOME money is a sizable contribution IMO. :thumb:

Got my life membership on Feb 1 2013. Packet arrived 8 weeks later. $300 was a steal and I wasn't going to turn that down.

Well my life membership package just arrived in the mail. I had signed up for installment payments just before the $300 promotion started.

I thought about calling the NRA and having them switch me over to the $300 plan, but then I started thinking about all the gun-grabbers, potential legislation going through congress and the various states. I finally just said frack it: I can keep sending letters & emails to my politicians, continue to post gun-friendly videos on my youtube channel and keep demonstrating the kind of fun my non-gun friends can have in shooting sports, buttt...

The NRA can do a lot more than I can do. I don't agree with everything they say/do, but they are an important voice (IMHO) in the fight to protect our Second Amendment rights. You may say I'm crazy for throwing away an extra $700, but we all do what we can. I'm very fortunate and happen to have the funds at this point in time - I may not in a few months - and I don't want to look back as more and more states pass draconian laws like NY, CT, CO enacted and have to say "could have, would have, should have."

Just my $0.02.

Oh, and it took about 10 weeks to get my life membership package.

Similar thing happened years back before I got my life membership. They had a promotional $500 if I remember correctly, but I had just signed up with the then brand new EPL program, so I didn't qualify. Well I got a raise, and a big bonus, so I had some cash to use on a Life membership. I thought about asking NRA if I could pay off EPL to the $500 level. Then I thought the same thing you did, and bit the bullet. Well worth it.

Almost to Presidents circle now. By next February I am hoping to be blessed enough to be a part of it.

For you fellow life members, if you got some money burning a hole in your pocket, you can pick up Endowment membership for $250.00. and a free travel bag. It normally goes for $1000.

https://www.nra-2013.org/ No clue how long it will take to get the bag or for your status to change on your NRA page, but I bought mine on the 28th and still no change.

Some people I've talked to says this has been going on all year, no clue when it will end. Be safe on your trip and have fun. :thumb:
