FN 9mm

Looking for a carry 9mm and love my 5.7 so which FN 9mm is best for CC ? I have not seen any in person because all of the gun shops in my area only carry the popular guns like Glock and springfield. Any input would be gretly appreciated

Simmer down. I only saw your thread now. Perhaps a 'bump' or two before getting aggravated?

As far as FN CC 9mms, you really only have a couple choices, FNX, or FNS. OF the two I would go with the FNX. Better trigger IMO

But if I had a choice outside of that, i would go with a Sig 224 or 228.

I saw the thread, I just don't own any FN9s. Use a coin toss?

As for the forum, this is the FiveseveN forum, not the FN or FN9 forum. We'll help on other calibers if we can but don't get ruffled if we can't - not everyone here owns an FN9 & can make an educated comment. Have you tried asking at the more generalized FNforum? You might find a wider spread of users...

Very true, don't take offense please. We're not like other forums... most of the members here only comment when they have direct experience. We tend not to perpetuate internet "facts" without firsthand knowledge. Of course there's always an exssseption every now and again...

And to present foundation, I have shot the FNP, the FNX, and the FNS (benefits of having a buddy with an FFL) only once. The FNP isn't made anymore, I believe, and the trigger differences are solely based on those limited firings.

I don't own an FNX or FNS simply because I don't like the feel of it in my hand. Same reason I don't own a lot of pistols.

I shot either the FNP or the FNX once, for all of one mag or so. Didn't really focus on the trigger. Felt relatively good in my hand but I have since found ones I like more (CZ :drool: ).

I would recommend the FNP. Less controls.

I had an fnp-9. Sold it. Very light and flimsy feeling plastic frame that resulted in too much muzzle flip to be justified in a 9 in my humble opinion. No experience with the others.

FNP-9M. It is the only compact 9MM FnH has made available of late (until a compact FNS is released). You can still find them, some used, some new. We've got one and love it. Tough break-in period of casings ejected to the forehead, but after that, no issues. It's a tad smaller than the regular FNP-9, FNX-9, and FNS-9.

Honestly, I just saw your thread as well, and it now has...how many replies?
I haven't fired ANY of FN's 9MM handguns, but I used to own the FNP40. Other than a rattle in the magazines that I never could figure out, it was a fine weapon. It 'felt' cheap in my hands because it is a plastic gun. Heck, Glocks feel cheap in my hand. But that rattle in the magazine made me think the dadgum thing was going to fall apart.
I put MANY rounds down range with it and never had a FTF or misfire or...and it didn't matter if the mag was full or empty. It simply rattled. No being stealthy with that thing on your hip.
Would I recommend one? Eh...honestly, probably not. There are a lot of firearms out there for the same money that impress me more. Plus, everybody here knows, I'm a Ruger guy. Very few here like Ruger though. Most are Sig fans or Beretta fans or S&W fans or...there's something 'else' that they prefer.
The thing is, we respect each others opinions for what they are. Opinions.
Blue can take the cheapest made guns on earth and pinhole targets because he is constantly on the range shooting. Irish knows a lot about custom AR's because he builds them. Grant is constantly experimenting with different powders and loads for FsN ammo and Justin has built about every conceivable Ruger 10/22 known to man.
But as they said, not many of us have owned many different FN made 9MM's, so giving an honest recommendation to someone to go out and buy one?? We just aren't that comfortable doing that.
However, if you were interested in different brands, I'm sure we could give you a slew of suggestions. For instance, I would surely recommend the Ruger SR9. Slim design for easy concealment, 17+1 capacity, nice shooter, adequate trigger. No, not a match grade pistol, but fits your hand good and excellent capacity for such a slim design.
Others might suggest CZ'z or even EAA (CZ clones) for slightly more money. While even others will suggest Sigs or HK's or...
It's all going to depend on what feels right to YOU and how much you want to spend.
I strongly suggest, go to a range that will rent you a weapon and let you test fire it a bit. See which weapon 'feels right' in your hand. Which weapon feels like a natural extension of your arm when you are sighting it down range. If it feels right, then it IS right.
Do a little research to see if the weapon has a record of reliability.
Brand name doesn't matter.
No matter what any of us tells you..

I'd go with the FNX for the trigger. But then again it's apples to oranges with hammer vs. striker. Do you want a first heavy pull then light and short after that, or the same pull every time that's in between for weight and pull?

First Sorry about the second post I was having a bad day and typed before i thought I am not usually an A** hole. Second I am the recent owner of an FN 5.7 and love the gun so when looking for a new carry gun for the warmer weather I thought why not look at some FN's and thought this would be the place to start. thanks for the info so far I really do Appreciate it

Don't worry so much about the second post.
Just...for future reference, maybe when you make a post wanting advice about a certain gun, you might put that in the title. Maybe something like 'FN 9MM Advice' or 'Looking for First 9MM' or '9MM Preferences' something that will give potential readers a better idea what it is you're looking for. You're liable to get more activity in the thread is all.

Well i went and ordered a Ruger SR9C it felt good in my hand yet small enough to conceal during summer and it got nothing but good reviews everywhere I looked plus having a compact 9 with 17+1 capacity for $400 bucks sounded too good to pass up. Heard a lot of god things about the trigger too so thats a plus. Thanks for all the hep guys.

The compact holds 17+1? I think we got confused here. The SR9 holds 17+1. The SR9C holds 10.
Both are excellent weapons, and welcome to the Ruger family, but I hope if you ordered the 'c' you aren't expecting 17+1 capacity or you'll be disappointed.

No That was correct the compact comes with two mags one 10 rounder and one extended mag that holds 17. I know because I held one brand new in box with a 17 round mag
