S5 PFP for Deer

Post by burdy » 06 Oct 2010, 16:16

Want to kill a deer this year with my FiveSeveN. Gun season opens up in about 10 days and all I have is the S5 PFP's. Your out of Xterminators...Is the S5 going to work, or should I wait? There are deer in my backyard every single night, so Im getting a little ancy.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Make sure to take pics, and autopsy pics.

Well, Im on 18 acres, so it can run, but I'd prefer a quick kill. From the location it will likely be shot, I need it to go down within 300 yards.

The round has enough oomph to do the job, if it hits the right target.

Little worried about over penetration. My hot water heater went out last week. I replaced it and set the old one out back. I tried to shoot through it with everything. I could not shoot completely through it. Then I thought, lets try the S5's in my Fiveseven. Zipped straight through the whole thing, the bullets were splitting into 2 pieces and the large piece was exiting sideways and the small piece, which appeared so small it had to be the leading end, were exiting as well.

Sounds about right for metal. Flesh acts a bit different. I wouldn't worry about over penetration with the FsN.

Yeah the X-TerminaTOR may be our most expensive round because of the bullet but it's great on deer and HELL on hogs and all the guys out west hunting feral pigs have discovered this and we can't keep it on the shelf.

This week alone we emptied the shelves of all our major suppliers of it.

The S5 will do the trick just watch your range.

Like how it breaks up and goes sideways don't you! Does the same thing in flesh and depending on range will break up into three pieces.
