Hi, everyone.
I want to buy a 5.7 pistol. If I didn't miss anything there are three to choose from: the original FN Five-Seven, the Ruger 57 and Smith & Wesson MP 57. I can't go for S&W - in my state the capacity is maxed at 10 rounds, this leaves FN and Ruger.
Ruger has a serious advantage as it's much less expensive than FN and I already have Mark IV, so adding to the family seems logical, but there's certainly more to it. From what I saw and read there are good and bad things about each gun.
One thing that concerns me is that apparently many people experienced failure to feed with Ruger 57.
If you have this gun, what are the top things you like and don't like?
Do you see FTF? What ammo are you using?
What options do you have if you want a red-dot on your gun?
Do you like ergonomics of the gun? Accuracy?
Anything you may want to share would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Looking for feedback on Ruger 57
Welcome to the forum.
To be 100% honest the FsN is a combat weapon, the Ruger a plinker.
There have been a long list of issues with the Ruger. It was designed to hit a price point.

Now don't take this as a defense of the FsN cost. FNH sells the FsN for hundreds of dollars more then they should.
I have been impressed by the S&W. FYI you can have a someone like me convert OEM mags to 10 round. I did that years ago before FNH came out with 10 rounders. Also due to the size of S&W I would predict 10 round mags coming out.

Re: Looking for feedback on Ruger 57
As I consider the 57 round as a range round, not going to be a carry gun, or home defense gun, I went with the Ruger. At the time the Ruger and FN were the only options to market. I find the Ruger reliable, accurate, flat shooting, recoil more than a 22LR but less than 9mm, closer to 9mm. Mags are easy to load and overall a typical Ruger. It's not built to Beretta 92 or CZ Shadow fit and finish, but very good for a polymer handgun at its price point. After handling the FN, it did not seem worth the extra cost. Out of at least 1000 rounds I have had very few failures, shooting FN, Federal, Fiocci ammo, whatever is on sale. Pretty easy to clean, overall I am happy with the purchase and it makes the rounds to the range regularly.
I added a rear fiber optic sight from Tandem Kross as I like triple fiber optics or night sights the best.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry I dropped the ball!
I thought nobody replied, just now I realized I was not subscribed to notifications
Some forums do it by default and I totally missed it here.
Meanwhile my friend bought an FN and I had a chance to shoot brand new FN Five-seveN.
Every other round was an FTF. Jams became such a nuisance that we stopped before we emptied the 50-round box, which incidentally was also FN.
I liked the low recoil flat trajectory caliber. I didn't like the gun that felt like a plastic toy.
Someone told me that I need to put few hundred rounds through the gun before I start paying attention to these problems. Really?
I also realized that the ammo would cost me more than .45 - for me this is little hard to justify, considering this is indeed a range gun, IMHO.
I thought I'd put this on pause and meanwhile continue shooting my 1911, but this didn't last long - I got myself a CZ TS2.
So five-seven is on the back shelf for now, but I know I will think of it, I just love unusual things.
Again, I apologize for missing your replies, but I do appreciate them!
