Can the TEA Party Bring About a Pig Roast?

Post by Cyberfly » 24 May 2011, 10:50

While discussing politics at another forum I frequent, the topic of which (R) we might support came up and I instantly blurted out (without thinking, I might add) that whichever TEA party candidate was the most conservative tossed his hat in the ring would catch my support.
This instantly turned the conversation towards Ron Paul and his Libertarian values and people injected their thoughts as to why they thought he may have lost his bid the last time he ran and why this country is more than ready for those 'extreme' thoughts this time around. This isn't to say that I'm blindly supporting Ron Paul, just that his name came up in the thread and we discussed the different TEA Party members in Congress, etc. I'd still love to see Alan West run, but he says he won't do it. Not YET.
I pondered aloud the ramifications of having a TEA Party majority in both the House and the Senate AND in the Executive branch and suddenly smelled bacon cooking. The aroma of hams and other PORK products being burned as thoughts of TEA Party Patriots slashing and burning all of these unnecessary pork projects which have plaqued this great nation over the years danced through my mind. I imagined these same patriots pinning copies of the Constitution to the walls of every represantitive and senator in DC just to remind them of what they CAN and CAN NOT do. What are their limits and their responsibilities? Look here and remind yourself. Stop believing that you can do anything that you can write on a piece of paper and get your colleagues to sign off on. Its not supposed to work that way.
Can America be saved?
If We The People send the RIGHT people to DC it can be. Fiscally conservative, constitutionally bound and willing to do the right thing...then yes. YES WE CAN, to borrow a worn out phrase that sickens me now. We The PEOPLE can.
I just hope and pray that our true allies like Israel will still be with us when we do.
Pray for our country.
Pray for the people of our country.
Pray for the people defending our country, both here and abroad.
Pray for our leaders, that their collective eyes will be opened, that their minds will relieved of whatever idiocy has overtaken them and that God's will be done through them.
Pray that whatever darkness that is surely descending upon this world be vanquished by His light.
Pray that the people of this nation wake up, stop being selfish, decide to make things right with this country and the world and make the right choice come 2012.
This is my prayer. I hope you'll join me.

Cyber,

It’s always good when things can be discussed. The Tea Party movement is great, but there is something that WE ourselves can do.

First of all, we need to KNOW just what is Constitutional or not, and make our reps aware that not only what has been done in the past, but also what is being attempted in this Congress is Unconstitutional. Once WE understand the Constitution, they we are better armed to make either an impression on our Congress critters, or be better prepared within ourselves when we vote some of turkeys out of office.

I’ve said it for years, but no one seems to be listening.

ALL FEDERAL FIREARMS LAWS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

I would like to think I did a reasonable job in explaining this at

http://constitutionwatch.wordpress.com/ ... nd-others/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

followed by

http://constitutionwatch.wordpress.com/ ... null-void/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Both long and boring reads.

Chris

This has been discussed NUMEROUS times.
People today wouldn't know what to do if we pulled this government back and reigned them in to what the Constitution actually ALLOWED!
Imagine all of the handouts, the taxes, the inane burdensome laws, the bureaucracy that would would just >POOF< disappear!
Imagine the 'assumed' powers that both Congress and the President have taken upon themselves over the years...gone! No more legislating by Executive Order. No more Czars. No more pork hidden in bills. No more wastefull spending. No more trillions of dollars in deficits. Just,...gone.
But also, imagine all of the power shifting back to the states. Imagine all of the suddenly unemployed federal workers. Imagine the mad rush to try to pass Constitutional Amendments to reinstate either those powers to themselves or to pass 'the necessary laws' as amendments.
I think the last 'properly' passed restriction was prohibition...and it's repeal.
Ah, to dream.

We tried this a long time ago during the War of Northern Aggression when the South fought for States Rights.

But it wasn't just for state's rights. It was also an attempt to secceed the union and become a separate nation. Lincoln couldn't allow that because foreign nations were waiting in the wings to step in and destroy what had been built.
I'm not saying it was right, or that the states were wrong, just that in their eyes, it had to be done.
I do believe that states are slowly beginning to realize their proper place and although it will take a lot of time, things can regain balance.
But it will take the right people.

AMEN! That is probably the only way will ever get them back. Most people don't know that The War of Northern Agression was fought over states rights NOT SLAVERY. Hopefully the federal government will never decide to turn its arm against it's citizens again. They also don't know who fired the first shot or where.

Cyberfly, I thought the Tea Party was not going to have candidates, they were going to support candidates that were in alignment with their beliefs. If the TP starts putting up third party candidates I will fight the TP with every breath in my body. Remember H. Ross Perot that gave us Bill Clinton.IMHO

I don't know that I am smart enough to answer that, but I am sure that splitting the conservative vote will not get us where we want to go.

I'm not saying a TEA Party candidate as in a THIRD party. I'm saying whoever runs that has the same ideals as TEA Party members.
I don't think the TEA Party will ever actually become a viable third party, rather a body that endorses candidates based on their reputation or the beliefs that they espouse. Because of this, I believe that someone can be a TEA Party candidate regardless of political party. One could be a Libertarian, a Republican or even a Democrat.
However, if the TEA Party ever did become a third party (or would that be a fourth or fifth party?) that wouldn't preclude me from supporting someone if I believed they were the best person for the job.
And, IMHO, I believe H Ross Perot would have won had he not dropped out and then jumped back in. And for the record, I believe him when he said that Bush covertly threatened his family. Wouldn't put it past anybody who was head of the CIA and running against a known slimeball like Comrade Klinton. But that is neither here nor there.

Why in the world would you fight the TP? The Republicans and the Democrats got us into this mess, so I really doubt they can get us out.

The more I look at things, I think the Tea Party movement is really just a revival of the Libertarian party, which is a great thing. The Tea Party movement should never be an organized party... it needs to remain a movement of people with multiple ideas, not another party that is willing to cut its own throat.

Thanks Fuzzy, that is exactly what I was trying to say. I am a Tea Party member. And will continue to support them as long as it stays that way.

Cyber we wil have to agree to disagree. I think he is a lunatic. Had Bush wanted to intimidate him no one would have ever heard about it. Perot would have not been a problem and Klinton would have never been President. The bottom line is Perot split the vote and Klinton won.

We will have to agree to disagree on this issue... I don't believe in saying someone split a vote. Obviously the people didn't vote for one of the two main candidates because they didn't believe that the candidate bit their beliefs... what if they there wasn't a 3rd candidate and those people just opted out of voting for a Presidential candidate?

I know a lot of people who refuse to vote because they don't like who is running. I ask about using write ins & they say those are just a wasted vote anyway so why bother?

That's usually about the time I remind these people that we are the bosses of the government but only if they get off their heinies & demand it of their elected reps.
