OK....I gotta' ask a question. What is there about SS190 that causes folks to slobber all over themselves and pony up to three times the money for it than they'd pay for EA ammo which has similar characteristics, and five times the money for commonly available, albeit less capable, ammo? Is it the thrill of the chase, the limited supply, the forbidden fruit syndrome, thinking it will appreciate and they can turn a buck, or what? I just don't understand the interest. What am I missing here?

Because it's all pre-ban, "AP" classified ammunition. I just buy it for collection

"Pre-ban"? When has it ever been banned? It's only ever been restricted by FNH for sale to LE/MIL, as far as I know.

Actually it is BATFE designated AP ammo. FN has nary a thing to due with its restriction. 198LF however is FN restricted only.

For whatever reason, SS190 is classified by the BATFE as AP. Although it has the similiar construction to SS109 rounds, it's bad juju :|

Isn't it designated AP because of the steel penetrator tip or whatever?

Oh and good luck with your sale sir :thumb:

yes, but the ss109 round also has a steel penetrator. I wonder if it's because it can be fired from a handgun also.

SS109/M855 has a special consideration from the bATFe, therefore, making it exempt.

well I wonder why the SS190 doesn't have the same considering the SS109 round will penetrate hard armor pretty good, and makes swiss cake out of soft armor (save for your level IV stuff)

Due to the fact that M855/SS109 steel core rounds were originally designed as a Full on Rifle round, and not as a intermediate, PDW, or pistol cartridge.

That is the only reason I can think of.

Again, I don't make the rules or decode them, just re-tell em as what the bATFe says.

Hey, I'm not sure if my email went through. Would you do $625 plus whatever shipping would be($655, maybe?) for five boxes? Or $1,250 + shipping for ten?

As a matter of fact the only payment I take is Postal Money orders :D If you want to send cash that would be at your own risk and would be ill advised :(

Thanks sir!

I am not sure. I use adjustable sights and sight in for what I am shooting. If I remember right, it was close to or on par with ss192 at 50 yards.
