Pistol Bayonets (Yes, I'm seriously asking.)

I'm sure most (If not all.) of you have seen/heard about pistol bayonets like these: http://www.laserlyte.com/collections/pistol-bayonets" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Since most of the members of the forum (Okay, pretty much ALL of you.) are more experienced about this sort of thing, I feel compelled to ask...
Do pistol bayonets have any inherent use/advantage, or are they just there to make your handgun look more dangerous? I feel tempted to bash on them since the object they're attached to is already pretty deadly in it's own right. (Even at close range.) But maybe I'm overlooking something, especially from a defensive standpoint. (And I didn't already find the subject covered with the tactical search.)
