deleting posts

why is it some of my posts I can delete with the little (x) button and others just show (!) report post? I thought I was the owner of such digits.

I think it has something to do with whether or not someone has posted after your post.

Yup, that is the reason. You can still go in & edit your post (put in something like "content deleted" or just leave blank) after someone comments but only a mod can actually delete it. And you have the right to have your comments removed should you leave the forum. However, if your comment was quoted in another's post, the quoted part will stay.
