Forum Status Update

Hello! Its been quite a long time since I've visited this little corner of the internetz... I see a lot of old friends are still around and quite a few new faces as well!

I apologize for the downtime over the past few days. I've been working with the forum host to get the forum software up-to-date which also required that the operating system be upgraded to a newer version due to forum software dependencies. He has done an awesome job at keeping us online over the years and his level of customer service is quite amazing.

All of the software updates have been installed and we're up and running on the latest and greatest version of forum software which includes some new features and should hopefully make the forum a better platform for everyone to share information.

Unfortunately there is some bad news... custom smiley faces, avatars, and some other custom features that we added to the forum, were lost in a data corruption issue that the server experienced last month.

Over the next few weeks/months I will be working with forum staff and mods to get things back in shape and hopefully bring a new clean look (style) to the forum. I'm pretty confident that some of the things we may introduce will breathe some new life to this place that a lot of us have considered a second home over the years.

Again, I want to apologize for the downtime... I didn't expect things to be down for as long as they were.

If you notice any problems, please post them here and we will look into getting them resolved.

Probably the best thing about the new version is that it works awesome with mobile devices! I do have some login issues on mobile sometimes, but it looks great once logged in.

I imported a new smilie pack. Unfortunately I don't recall where I found the previous one. If someone wants to take the time to find some and send me a link to them, I'll get them uploaded. I believe phpBB requires a .pak file to be included which defines the BBCode used to display the image.

As a reminder, avatars were lost. You will need to re-add your avatar to your profile.

The most recent and greatest forum software version, which includes some new features and should hopefully give the forum a better platform for everyone to discuss information, has been installed, and we are now fully operational.

We are 3 major revisions out of date and 10 minor versions out of date. We are working on getting it not only fully updated but updating the looks that has not changed in years.
