Is ATF going to ban Tactical Shotgun Imports?

Post by Vortec MAX » 28 Mar 2011, 20:27

My dad was telling me that the ATF was planning to ban tactical shotgun imports through an "interpretation" of the 1968 Gun Control Act. Have you guys heard anything like that? He scared me enough that I got all stupid and bought the Benelli M4 I had been wanting to get.

Couple of threads on stuff like that,
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9800" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10265" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not sure if it is that particular act but there is a lot of talk about banning shotguns with pistol grips.

Are you still living around here? I was at Duffy's & heard someone saying "Mike moved."

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Crap! I had to buy a 7 round tube and a telescoping Benelli stock to go with the M4. This is getting pricey. I haven't even bought the railed fore end, Eotech optic, sidesaddle, bolt knob, light/laser combo, or sling yet.

This might be the most expensive shotgun ever!

Why would you put a $500 optic on a shotgun?

This question, ultimately, is always answered with, "Because you CAN".

Seems like it's the slave answer to pretty much everything firearms related based on choice.

In this instance, the EOtech is a pretty viable option; it would be able to take the recoil and impulse of the shotgun well and allow the use of a red dot to target slugs more effectively.

Because you "can" is really the only reason i can think of. ;)

I have an extra Burris Fastfire II laying around that i'm eventually going to put on my Beretta 1200FP(liscense built Benelli M1), just because i "can." :D

There are a lot of viable alternatives for a shotgun that don't cost $500, but it's his money. :D

I like EOTech's. It's that simple. I have one on my AR too, so the sight aquisition will feel natural.

Watch the Art of the Dynamic Shotgun, by MagPul. You will understand why you would want sights on a shotgun, especially one that has quick aquisition and allows both eyes to be open.

Just make sure to get a low mount for any red dot you get.

All those tactical companies just rip off techniques from we competition shooters and dress up with 5.11/blackhawk/whatever-tactical-clothing then sell their DVD's to the tactical crowd.

Come over and I'll teach you how to shoot in my purple striped shorts.

I guess copying competition shooters isn't new. All the special forces and armed forces have been using loads developed by Hipower shooters and using their techniques for long-distance marksmanship.

And they do it in their full combat gear. So much respect for our military guys. They are too legit. You look at other military branches from other nations... wow. They don't hold a candle to USA men & women in uniform. The training our guys go through is legit.

Tritium bead sight will do the same thing for about $50 amigo.

I'm just sayin'

I surely don't mean to knock EOTechs, they're damned good units.

PS: I got my combat shotgun training in the US Army Infantry. How does that rank vs. a Magpul tape? ;)
