New Steyr
Re: New Steyr
I'll have to wait and see how it handles.
I recently added two TPD AXR's to the collection (one Limited edition and one standard with extended rail).
I have an original Nato stocked AUG I picked up last year.
Still debating on the MSAR STG556

Guess I figgure it isn't worth messing with a knockoff when you can get the real thing.mickey223 wrote:I'll have to wait and see how it handles.

Re: New Steyr
It depends, How many non colt AR15's do you have? or 1911's? Or non Russian AK47's?
I find the AXR to be a better fit and finish than the original AUG that I have. If the new one is like the old, then I'll probably pass.

Re: New Steyr
(Chuckle) Um...no ARs period, no 1911s period, 1 AK knockoff (MAK-90). :p But yah I get what you are saying. You also have to take into account that the track record of non-steyr steyrs is pretty poor. Look to the early Austrailian steyrs, they had major problems. I don't know if it is the AXR or the other American knockoff but one of them had a lot of problems and had some recalls as a result.mickey223 wrote:It depends, How many non colt AR15's do you have? or 1911's? That was the MSAR. Looks like they got things worked out, but that was the main reason I passed on the rifle so far.
The AXR really has been a top notch performer and the milled receiver knocks the panties off the cast receiver of the MSAR.

Re: New Steyr
I like the ltd msar I have, but it came with a bad run of customer service and thus has some "Bad Karma" attached to it. So much that it is also the name I have given the rifle. I will try to get the AUG as well, because I believe in the bullpup concept and had wanted one of these for over a decade. I just hope it comes with the actual AUG A3 quad rail.
Re: New Steyr
I'm going to need to see the final configuration before deciding on whether to get the new AUG or one of the newer MSAR STG556's (without the forward assist).
I have wanted an AUG type gun since I was in elementary school so I'll have one or the other somehow.

Re: New Steyr
Where have you guys been able to find the AXR? Whenever I go on the website it says they have none, and the last email I got said it hasn't hit the market yet. What's the secret handshake??
Re: New Steyr
Just a heads up. The AXR is a right handed only since it uses the NATO Adapter Stock. Not a big deal to most, but I am a big ambi person fan.
Re: New Steyr
Supposedly Steyr and Sabre Defense will have the new AUGs ready in Jan 2009.
Re: New Steyr
Sweet, just in time for the new assault weapon ban! :p
Re: New Steyr
I have had nothing but good come from my STG-556 special edition. Hope that helps
