So I have a FNS-9. It is nothing shy of amazing, the trigger is smooth and very crisp. With the reset as a slight flinch of my finger I'm practically in heaven. FN has really out done their self again. Best hand gun I have ever shot by far!!!!
Ill try to get a video made this week if work will allow me the time... :wall:

So will FNX mags work in these? Or are we going to run into yet ANOTHER mag shortage when these things hit the civvie market?

So that we can just watch many reposts of the same info after this one, with Rapier linking people back to this thread :cya: ;

FNH USA is planning on releasing a longer-slide version to the tune of 5 inches.

Extra info on the current FNS:

They come with Night Sights, with black or two-tone (black/stainless).

1st gens will have external manual safety, which isn't new news.

Claimed MSRP at SHOT is $699.

Blue out.

We are carrying these now. I have both colors of the 9 in stock and I have the SS version of the 40s. Still waiting on the black 40s.

FNX mags will work, as will the FN pistol package holster. I have three of these available btw, one black and two FDE.

Got one today and just got home from the range with it. I'm quite happy with the purchase. Came with 3 magazines and with the typical replaceable backstraps. The night sights were a nice surprise. It also a safety, mag release, and slide relase on both sides, so it will work you lefties out there.

As far as shooting, it's natural position in my hand, and angle are extremely good. It's very quick to get on target. I didn't find myself having to adjust at all moving from low ready to shooting stance. It's trigger is a little heavy, but has a crisp break and short reset. I found it to be one of the easiest pistols in my collection to shoot accurately. I've only put 100 rounds through it so far, but I'm really looking forward to shooting this pistol more.

The new FNS-9 definitely gets a thumbs up from me. :thumb:

edit: Did find something I don't like and I'm disappointed in FN for. Even though my FNX mags fit and lock into it, when you try to chamber a round, they fall out of the gun if you have 17 rounds in the magazine.

Thanks for the review, RC!

The FNX mags fall out even though they are locked into place? That shouldn't happen... if they are completely locked in, I don't see how it's possible for the FNX magazine to fall out even if you load 17 in it. That's nuts!

I was quite surprised. It didn't happen with 16 or less rounds, but happens every time with 17 rounds with every FNX mag I tried. I even made really sure that they were locked in position and wouldn't come out by moving them around or pulling on them. Don't think I'd trust them not to fall on the ground while shooting.

Edit:
Really not sure now. After unloading and reloading a few of the FNX mags and chambering rounds from them, they are not dropping out of the gun when chambered with 17 rounds any more. They do have a little more wobble than the FNS mags though. I'll get back out to the range during the next couple days and see what I can figure out.

Make sure you push up and pull down the FNX mag before you chamber the round, to ensure it is secured on the mag catch. Then chamber a round :)

If it falls out, then you know that the clearance is too much on the catch.

I have seen numerous FNS-9 and FNS-40s at recent gun shows all running in the $539-$559 price range. All I have seen have a manual safety which is why I don't own one yet. I have my heart set on one without a MS. They are nice looking guns. Similar in feel (not size) to my 45 tactical but that is just picking it up at the gun show. I may have to breakdown and buy one with the MS if I can't get an estimated date on one without. Even the guys that sell primarily FN stuff said the FNS wasn't available without a MS. A dealer said "it sounds like you should get a Glock". I replied "I have 11 Glocks".

I'm with you. Some are clamoring to get them with the MS so they can have one "pre-ms-less" Collectors..

Thanks for the data; $539 is a lot better than when they first came out to CIV a few months ago; it was hard $600ish.

I'm glad they have come down, a bit. Still have yet to test one or see one, in Austin. :(

I saw a couple at a gun show a few weeks ago. Felt like the FNX as best I could tell. Couldn't try out the trigger since the slides were xip-tied open. I'm hoping the local fun shop will have some in soon.

Hm. Why is he shooting an FNS.

I like the recoil character. It's back on my test list for a new USPSA gun.
