The fns 9 is my first hand gun. i know ill need to clean it before shooting (according to the manual). And there is a kind of break in period to smooth out the trigger. Honestly my trigger does not seem to bad anyway)
What else should i know about the maintenance?
First hand gun, now what?

Clean & lube are the only real maintenance things you need to worry about. If anything else comes up (ie loose sight), I'd suggest taking it to a gunsmith until you are more experienced.
One word on the lube, there is such thing as too much oil. Oil where the manual says to but do so sparingly.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Clean, oil and enjoy shooting. I picked up the FNS40 a month or so ago and love shooting it.

might be a good idea to take some type of firearms safety class, good investment and money well spent. if you don't have any experience with firearms a class is a good idea to avoid developing bad habits.

Have you enjoyed it? Were you able to acquire newer handguns?
