My First FAL Modification :)

Post by Buffman » 20 Feb 2010, 17:26

The plastic carry handle on my FAL was looking pretty sad. I decided to give up a few ounces and had one made from Titanium. Probably will have it hard chromed in black /powdercoated in black chrome, or some other black coating.

Nice, although I must point out you took a .25 cent part and made it a 15.00 dollar one, just saying :p

I think DSarms sells it for $4.00. The Brother in law had an hour into machining it, so I bought him and his gf dinner tonight. So that made it a $30 part :) Titanium bar was free picking from work. It was the last 5/8" piece we in the scrap bin :)

Nice Job Buff,

I agree with Panz, but then again if we didn't tinker around with things like this, where would the fun be?

One thing I think you might want to add is some sort of rubber coating to prevent scratching when you have the handle bar in the down position along the receiver. Not sure if this will be an issue, but something to think of.

All around though nice piece.

Yeah I'm going to have it powdercoated so it's somewhat scratch resistant to the receiver.

You could have left it "chrome" to keep it as a "hood" upgrade. :lmao:
