I thought that the combination of the generic "Hi" intor coupled with it beinf from Pakistan was odd. Do a google searh on "Hi to all my name is Hether Shecim." and you will see that the same greeting was posted on many pages worth of forum results.

I always have to wonder why people do that and what results they are looking for.

Wow I really screwed the spelling pooch on that post, and no I don't drink and internet. Crack... maybe. Definitely not alcohol though.

Sometimes certain things pique my interest - online behavior always fascinates me. The way that people think it's ok to hide behind a keyboard and pretend to be whoever/whatever the desire is really wild.

Then there's the scams. As a fairly skeptical person, I often suspect that there is something nefarious being attempted and I try to ferret it out, just for fun. That particular introduction wreaks of suspicious behavior to me.

Seriously, you don't have to be paranoid to know that everyone is out to get you! I'm just sayin'...

Good afternoon (or morning to some of you). I currently live in and am from the kinda great state of North Carolina, and am the proud owner of a slightly used (probably not even broken in) FNP-40 in two-tone with decocker. I also recently purchased a 1943 Mosin Nagant 91/30 but that seems irrelevant. I just joined the forum a few minutes ago after using you guys' banter and opinions to help answer my own questions for the past year. I have had my CHP for a few months and carry proudly every day, and as a thinner guy (5'8", 140ish) actually don't have many issues carrying a duty-size. I'm looking forward to many discussions with all of you.

I recently read that if you care to do so, you can set your oven on LOW and disassemble everything, sitting it in pans with paper towels. Seeing as I don't wanna do that, I think I'm gonna just wait til a good long day off and try tons of hot water in the sink

Boiling water is the key, lots of it and a brush. My first AK came caked in the nasty stuff.

Put a few pots on the stove and get your self a plastic tote and do it outside.

I'm also gonna have to find some ammo for this thing.. best I have found is 90/can plus shipping. Also, I'm assuming a bore brush with a ten foot attachment is in my future, and attack from each end to maybe reach the middle of the barrel @_@ . My rifle also seems to have a million more stamps on it than usual.

Edit: outside is a no-go. I have a first floor apartment.

Hey guys and gals. New here just bought me a PS90 and 500 rounds of ammo. Today so I will be hanging around. Already been reading a good bit and plan to tackle reloading the 5.7x28 in the future. Have some dies on order already. Have done a lot of handgun and rifle reloading but seems like at least the cleaning process will be different.

Just arrived today. I have been wanting one for awhile. Almost got scammed on one on Armslist two weeks ago, and bought one from Gunbroker end of last week. Won't get to shoot it until Friday. Plenty of ammo. I have already learned quite a bit by lurking here. Glad to finally have one to shoot

Just bought a 5.7 USG. Sold the only other FNH I owned (FNP-9). Been a concealed carry instructor since 2007. NRA Pistol, Metallic Cartridge Reloading, Range Safety Officer.
A friend and fellow instructor turned me on to the 5.7 and I just had to have one. Will always be a 1911 carry guy, but the USG is my new favorite range toy and BOB accessory (makes a great partner to the RRA 7" AR pistol).

I joined this forum several years ago when I bought my FiveSeven handgun in 2005. I have not been here for a while and my account was disabled. I recently bought a PS90 and decided to re-join. I have been reloading the 5.7x28 round since 2006. I joined to learn more about my PS90.

Newby Saying Thank You

Post by DrSoup32 » 05 Feb 2014, 16:21

I am new to shooting and reloading. (And I will try and not get sappy here.)

In October 2012 I bought my first rifle, an AK-47, and have gone a little crazy since then. I am a physician and have a great wife who puts up with my habits. :)

A young patient of mine introduced me to the PS90 and Five-Seven pistol. I quickly bought my own and I love them.

I started reloading the 9, 40, 45, 30-06, .223, 6.5x55, 270 WSM, .308, .303 British, 7.5x55, 7.62x54r and a few others (ok a lot crazy). In researching the 5.7 I was intimidated by this little round. I researched the heck out of this forum and today fired off my first successful rounds. Thanks to you guys/gals I still have my hands and therefore occupation!

This thank you is truly heartfelt. You folks have put a whole lot of time, energy and money into the education of others. Being willing to share your talents and skills with others is truly noble. People like you will be the saving grace of our democracy.

At any rate . . . THANK YOU!

New Member Introduction

Post by dantheman67 » 22 Apr 2014, 15:00

Hi all,

I'm a new member here- been lurking for the past 3 days or so. I finally registered so I could post a WTB. I have an M1A Scout with walnut stock & iron sights and I'm looking to get a FsN. Preferably black USG with fixed tritium combat night sights. It's going to be the bedside weapon, SHTF sidearm, camping/wilderness accessory and occasional range toy. Not trying to shoot the hat off a small man from 50 yards away like in Last Samurai.

Anyways. The FsN is awesome. I mean, after all, why WOULDN'T somebody want the same weapon the US secret service uses to protect the president? and of course Sam Fisher's handgun of choice!

Hello everyone, my name is Josh. I'm 23 years old. I've been a lurker here for a couple months, and have always been fascinated by the 5.7 round and pistol. I just purchased a Five-Seven, and love the way it shoots and feels. I also own a Beretta Px4.

I've lurked for a while, been a member for a shorter time, and this is actually my second post. I've wanted a FsN for as long as they've been produced and after dealing with a family member's major medical emergency after a surgical procedure that defied the odds of not just being successful, but that she survived, I decided that it was time to make the purchase.

Now I find that I don't have anywhere other than a state game lands range to shoot it! My local club prohibits any handgun ammunition that breaks 1200fps on the handgun ranges and the rifle ranges have target stands at 100m... I'll sort something out, even if I have to petition the board.

First world problems, eh?

Thanks for having the forum and I look forward to becoming more involved.

1200 FPS limit? That's crap, I used to have a mouse gun that'd do that. Pretty much eliminates all magnums as well. Hope you get it sorted, and welcome.

Guess I better make the introduction since it looks like I have found an interesting site to learn from.
I own
FN PS90
FN5.7 MKII
FN 45 Tactical
FNS9
FNS9 Long Slide
Bunch of others not FN (I do have a Night Hawk Custom GRP that I love the hell out of shooting so I will mention it also)
Go easy on me (or what ever). I was oilfield trash for 40 years so I can probably take some abuse.

Howdy Y'all. New guy here, and just wanted to be friendly, and to display my good manners by introducing myself.

Skyking was one of my favorite TV shows when I was a kid, and I always liked the name.

I'm retired now, and loving it.

I'm in the process of building my own AR-57 with an 80% lower. I've finally gathered all the necessary parts, and pieces, and will begin the build next week when I get up to my brother in laws shop during the Christmas holiday. I'm pretty pumped up about it.

I've been around firearms all my life, and have mostly been a clay target shooter since I started as a trap boy at the local club at 13 years of age. I'm a life member of the National, and Texas Skeet Shooters Assoc, and the National Sporting Clays Assoc. I shoot all the disciplines; but American Skeet is my favorite.

I look forward to all there is to learn on this forum, and will add my own knowledge when, and where it might be needed.

Thanks in advance,
Larry

PS: I'll update as to my build progress if anyone is interested.

Hello new guy here. First off this site has a ton of info which is great for quick go to information and I love it. I've always wanted to buy a gun but like a car there are so many choices and pros and cons of each. I picked up my Five-seveN about 3 months ago the day before I got married. Since then I have been going to the range at least once a week to practice. I've never owned a gun before so I always triple check what I'm doing in a safe way. With that said I love the Five-seveN and how comfortable it feels. I stocked up on ammo for a while and I'm working on the basics of stance, grip, breathing, etc becsuse I want to be proficient at it but I'm obviously not going to be shooting competitively just a sport/hobby. I welcome any and all advice.

Welcome!

You're covering the basics, but I'd add setting money aside and taking a good training class with a qualified instructor so you can have a third party evaluate what you're doing and teach you much more than the basics. Even though I've been to numerous classes over the years, each one teaches me something new.

I'm really considering taking classes. Like my guitar instructor said to me years ago, you can learn how to play from watching videos and talking to people but there's no one there to correct you if your doing something wrong or improper. Like I said I want to be accurate and proficient so I think it would be the way to go.

Just picked up a new 5-7. I must admit I don't know a lot about the gun. It was not on my wish list and I just bought it because I got a really good deal. Took it to the range yesterday and love it. Here to learn as much as I can about he firearm.

Hello all,
Newest member here, I have been lurking for a week or so, I decided I should join up! Mainly for the reloading of the 5.7x28mm round, I own a USG FiveseveN and PS90, I have been reloading for five or so years, it's more of a hobby rather than money saving at the moment.
I will post my questions on the 5.7 round in the proper section.
Our pretty great state of Utah is where I live, married, two kids, two dogs, not your typical Utah family, but it works for me, I like outdoorsy stuff, not a hunter, My last hunt was a bow hunt in about 1991, I still own my first firearm that was given to me by my father in 1980-81, that being a Winchester model 94 in a 30-30 flavor.
I'm hoping to be a member in good standing here.
Thanks
Brian.

Howdy Y'all!!

I'm the newest FNG to the forum....I've lurked a little bit here and there over the last year or so looking for answers to questions about my PS90, and looking for reloading information on the 5.7 cartdridge.

I'm from just north of Houston, Texas, and I work in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Currently looking for information about some magazines and figure that it's time to get a little more active on here.

One question.....the forum on my 'puter has black type on a greyscale background; is there any way to change that? It's kept me from joining in the past, as it's hard on my eyes to read....

Thanks!!

New owner and new to the forum

Post by Dar8600 » 03 Apr 2015, 16:48

Hey all. I am the new owner of a brand new never fired 5.7 IOM model. Serial Number 3861037XX. I am the second owner as my brother got this from a dealer brand new and for some reason never fired it. Yeah I don't know what is wrong with him either. Lol. I got the weapon, 4 mags 2/10 and 2/20 100 rounds of ammo, box, and everything that it comes with from the factory for $800. Being that it is the IOM model, what is a current market price for one of these? I'm Not looking to sell it. I am just curious what this might be worth. Also since I have never owned one of these, work issues my a sig sauer and all the ammo I can shoot lol, I am thinking this might be a good home defense weapon for my wife once I put a light/laser on it. Any thoughts as to what a good home defense ammo would be?

Thank you in advance for any input.

Dan

Welcome! You should post a picture under the FsN section.

I've usually seen them go for around $1200-1400 but not more than that.

If you have the original DAO version, then that goes for more, probably around 1600$, depending on if you have all the paperwork, if it is unfired, etc.

Hello all, brand new to the Forum and also from Texas.

I see the previous two posters above me are from Austin, one of the many Central Texas towns I very frequently pass through as my job calls me to travel up and down the I35 corridor all the time.

I see many familiar handles from the Other Forum, so some of you already know me.

For those of you who I don't know, I hope to get to know you all too

Hello. Recently bought my first ever 5.7 pistol. A new MKII, which I have put a couple of boxes of factory ammo through. Great pistol and very accurate. I found your forum while researching the pistol prior to buying it, however was just "lurking" for information, intending to join later.

Interestingly enough, today I got a phone call from a good friend who was in the ER after having a 5.7 pistol blow up on him. He was shooting a 5.7 that belonged to someone else. He is missing a chunk of thumb, has some through and through wounds to his hand and is scheduled for surgery tonight to remove shrapnel and cauterize an arteriole that won't quit bleeding. (All on his left hand).

Honestly, although they claim to have been shooting factory ammo, I know the owner of the pistol has reloaded 5.7 in the past. Have any of you heard of problems with factory ammo, or are these type incidents only related to improper reloads?

Welcome!

It is of particular debate as to whether the FsN can fire out of battery (oob).

And yes, the round is sensitive; as long as you reload and use your brain/common sense and established methods, you'll be fine.

I bought my FiveSeven years ago and it's been perfect. I got on a tear to buy a SBR 9mm format but in my research I found I was to old school to own such a configuration. I ran across the PS90 and owning a FiveSeven with much ammo in my pile I decided it was the way to go. All the positive reviews on the PS90 finished off the sell. I do need some help in the purchase. I have an Eotech L3 sight I use on several of my weapons. Will it work on the base format PS90 or do I have a problem?Does anyone know the trigger pull out of the box? The prices I've been seeing are 12-1300 for the base model. One other thing I assume the 10,20,30,50 mags are interchangeable in a base model. I hope.

Hello all! After securing my first Belgium HP in 1984, I figured out they made high quality, tight fitting pistols. So now, 31 years later, I finally bought a FNH FiveSeveN. I did not realize that polymer guns could or would be made with such high quality. The large grips fit my hand great. The Safariland Holster works great. Now to find magazine holders.

Is there anything I should know or be aware of before I head to the range. Yes, it will be cleaned really well before the inaugural shoot, and cleaned well afterwards. I used to shoot XTC rifle matches, but now with poor health, pistol shooting is much easier on me. :)

Finally, I have my first Fiveseven. I have been wanting one for almost ten years now and have been reading this forum periodically during that time. I finally decided I was done waiting and paid a little over $1200.00 for a new Mk II with shipping. I was able to fire a few rounds very shortly after getting my hands on it. I already have bought a good bit of ammo from various sources and I now know I'm gonna need a lot more! This forum is a great resource and I'm looking forward to applying some of the things I have learned here. Thanks!
