Well the thing we need most is a group of people that can trust and rely on each other. WE all should agree to try to meet in a semi populated town in the midwest with lots of retail!

First you have to get to them, and get there with enough ammo to do the job. I know you wouldn't risk sending your kids on ammo runs. Unless it is prestaged with supplies, it's not very practical as immediate retreat. Good news is that the uglies would likely stick to larger towns at first & give you a little time to prep. Eliminate the initial wave from the house then go for higher vantage point when clear.

New horror comedy TV series Zombie Roadkill - any animal ran over on a stretch of road comes back to life & attacks the teeny-bopper campers. Oh and the park ranger gets his arm eaten before he starts saving people.

“The Walking Dead” is coming back for a 13-episode second season. The zombie drama, starring by Andrew Lincoln as the leader of a group of human survivors, has broken ratings records, with the show reaching more viewers in the coveted adults 18-49 demo than any other cable TV show.
Its series premiere on Halloween drew 5.3 million total viewers and Sunday’s episode took in 4.7 million – that’s an incredibly high retention of a record rating and surely made this pickup an easy decision for AMC.

I love zombie movies.
Whether it's the concept of so many oxygen thieves wiped away from the population, the idea of a world where guns are not an optional accessory or frowned upon, or the idea that twinkies are indeed a holy grail to be sought out, I dig the idea of a zombie apocalypse.
What I don't like, are the obvious flaws in thought in every movie.
Some great tips and observations follow at the link.

One of the teachers here is somehow related to Chuck Norris. She and Mrs. Fly are close friends and she said that Chuck was really short, too. He wears lifts in his shoes and they always make sure that in the movie and TV shots they 'downplay' his height. Personally, I wouldn't care if he was a midget. His accomplishments and his beliefs make him worth being a role model in my mind.

Re: TEOTWAWKI and Zombies
Okay, time for a serious question:
If a zombie bit a werewolf, who would transform? And into what?
I mean, supposedly, both carry the capability to UTTERLY convert the bitten into the carrier. Werewolves supposedly have a natural immunity to whatever the virus is that causes vampirism and vice versa, but...what about zombie-ism? I mean...we're still not sure if its a chemical, virus or what.
So would it become a zombie werewolf? Or a werewolf zombie?
I'm just saying...

Natural immunity to vampirism? According to Underworld, anyone bitten by both has died. (Until they found "him" anyway). I think zombie virus would win -> zombie-werewolfCyberfly wrote:Werewolves supposedly have a natural immunity to whatever the virus is that causes vampirism and vice versa

Ah, but that is just according to a single 'source' in Underworld. All other literary sources claim that if either are bitten, then it does nothing to the bitten as they have a natural immunity.Rapier1772 wrote:Natural immunity to vampirism? There was only one source where one was both 'turned' by a vampire and bitten by a lycanthrope at the same time...that subject died from runaway fever.

Go start your own damned thread, Fly.
You can talk about SHTF and werewolves...
or Vampires WROL...

J/K This really is the thread for all of that.
But seriously, there are some subjects that tend to come up in other areas of the forum as thread hijacks that either belong here (if in jest) or in their own thread (if serious, but off-topic.)

Re: TEOTWAWKI and Zombies
Guess who;
"Do Moly-coated silver-looking bullets count?
Cuz there is this company that I heard is amazing for SHTF stashes (I have like, 8 different ones in probably 3-5 locations. I can't tell you about my 6th, it's my super back up one, that I can't let anyone know about. Let's just say it's in a very good area). Yeah so back to this company I heard that they make super ammunition for that crazy super high-capacity pistol. Please excuse me when I say high capacity because I am not sure, but I heard on the best site, ar15.com that any clip that can hold over 8 rounds (compared to the best gun in the world, the 1911) is high capacity. Anyway I heard this company called Elite makes crazy bullets that can go through tank armor.
Anyway, I think this would be best for your SHTF stashes. Right now I have like 2-3 of them stocked with Elite's ammunition. I hope to stock all 6.. er I mean 5 of them with their best of the line ammunition. Oh yeah, I also have a question, like, which Elite round should I get for zombies? I asked my hero Travis Haley but he didn't pick up his phone, so I called my backup, Nutnfancy. He gave me really good advice and actually forwarded me the phone number of his friend I saw in the video who had the 5.7 pistol with the barcode sticker still on the slide. Apparently it gives it like 50+ fps just from the sticker alone! Sweet!
Also, I would also like to get like 4 more 5.7 handguns so that I can put one in each stash. Preferably in different paint jobs. What would you guys recommend? I think desert camo is the best, because I see it around a lot. I probably won't shoot my guns much, if ever, so any coating is really ok, since it won't wear off. Also I expect the 5.7 pistol to be extremely accurate from what I read on this forum."

Re: TEOTWAWKI and Zombies
Okay.
Well, as much fun as it is to drift in the thread, I thought I'd share something I C&P'd from Glenn Beck's website.
He's been saying for quite some time to 'store food'. I hear that it is a Mormon belief to practice food storage, but Glenn has been saying to store up at least a year's worth of foodstuff because food prices are going to go through the roof. I'm already seeing rising prices at the store and since he is rarely wrong, we began doing it. Admittedly, it is expensive to just go out and buy a year's worth of foodstuff that can be safely stored without freezing. I've even thought of buying up cheaper cuts of meat and dehydrating it (similar to jerky) and then sealing it in one of those vacuum sealers. The only problem is, any time I make jerky in my house, the kids have it all eaten within minutes of taking it off the dehydrator.
Anyway, here is the C&P I took from his website. There is some really good info here.
Regardless of whether you are preparing for the rising prices or a SHTF scenario or TEOTWAWKI situation, it's a good idea to store up what you can. He suggests a year's supply. I tend to agree. More if you have room.
C&P:
Be Prepared: An Introduction to Food Storage
November 18, 2010 - 15:46 ET
In the age of the 24 hour supermarket, food storage may seem like a crazy concept. But economic forces are converging in such a way that skyrocketing food prices no longer seem like a possibility, more and more they appear to be an impending certainty. While Glenn could be wrong about inflation, there’s no harm in being prepared. Don’t be the person holding up a sign looking for help, be the person with a life raft. Look at the information on food storage and decide what’s best for you and your family.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
- No refrigeration, plan for emergency assuming no electricity.
- Be nutritious, there may be some more physical activity required (ie. Blizzard requires more shoveling)
- Keep calorie count
FOOD
- Recommend you start with 2 week supply of food
- Good no-cook food items
- Energy bars / breakfast bars
- Almonds
- Peanut butter
- Tuna packages
- Canned pasta
- Dried fruit / canned fruit
- Dry milk
- Instant coffee
- V-8 juice
- Plan around the way you already eat.
- Build around 3 categories of food
- Grocery store goods: often inexpensive, and it’s all familiar stuff. (i.e. mac & cheese)
- Freeze dried foods: lightweight and don’t take up much room. more expensive up front, but priced out per serving, it’s budget friendly.
- Bulk dry food: rice, beans, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, cornmeal, wheat, dried milk, etc. It will be the backbone of your food storage and last up to 20-30 years.
- Don’t stock up on it unless you know you like it.
- Look at ingredients. You don’t want something high in sodium or preservatives
- Pay attention to shelf life. Take a look at package, can. Soup doesn’t need water and can store this for a few years. Plastic bags and cardboard boxes – 1 yr max
WATER
- Easiest way to store is by using cleaned out 2 liter soda bottles. You can easily clean out with hot water, drop of soap. Rinse thoroughly. That type of plastic is safe for storage.
- Recommend 2 liter soda bottle / per person / per day. For consumption and washing.
- If a situation where water is an issue, be sure to have stash of paper plates & freeze dried meals.
- If you can heat water, then at least you can enjoy a hot meal (i.e. mac & cheese, pasta, soup)
STORAGE
- 5 main enemies to storing food
- Temperature: ideal is 40 degrees - 72 degrees. For every 18 degrees above 72, food will lose its’ nutritional value by half
- Humidity: Store food off the floor and away from outside walls
- Pests: Keep food in air-tight containers clean up food particles on the shelves or floor
- Oxygen: Use oxygen absorbers, rotate food, vacuum packing food to reduce oxidation
- Light: Keep your pantry area dark. If food is in clear containers, keep them in labeled boxes with lids.
- Look for places where can you declutter (I have water bottles stored under my kids’ beds)
- You can store food in bin under a bed, clear out space in closet and designate a shelf.
- I recommend pieces of furniture that can double as storage. (i.e. Bench that opens up with a storage component – especially good for small homes)
- Store in a place that you won’t be dipping into constantly.
NON-FOOD ITEMS
- Items like toilet paper, can be bulky but it can be stored in garage, attic, shed, etc. moisture will affect it but temperature won’t.
- Non-food items, purposefully 1-2 weeks supply
- Go through entire day and jot down every non-item used. Soap, shampoo, contact solution, etc. buy extras of those.
- Keep easily organized in buckets (i.e. dental, laundry, etc.)
- Give serious consideration to how your family will cope when power is down. Communication, entertainment, What would we do to take care of pets? Keep things cool in the home, etc?

Remember panzer's zombie ants? They found another kind

Once the "stalk of the newfound fungus species Ophiocordyceps camponoti-balzani infects an ant, the ant gives up control over its own body. After the fungus is in control, it forces the ant to scamper toward "a location ideal for the fungi to grow and spread their spores." Then, it's lights out for the ant. Who knew a fungus could be so diabolical?

I'd wait.
Zombie bites democrat & either you'll get 2 democrats or 2 zombies (same difference?). Either way, the terminator may get rid of both of them for you.
Plus I would need a few seconds to load up the AP rounds into the rifles instead of the usual rounds.
If they team up, arm your claymores & GTFO!
