Hey, has anyone had problems with Lyman 5-7 dies? After waiting forever for the back-ordered 3 die set and finally getting to use them, I found the threading on the die bodies to be full of chatter marks and difficult to turn. Same goes for the seating plug threads. Moreover, the seating plug would only push the bullet to within -.015 of the max OAL seating depth which I understand to be 1.59" (that's even after taking off the lock nut to gain more depth).
They sounded like a good deal at 40 bucks, but maybe this is an example of getting what you pay for.

Buddy has a set - they seem to work fine - we both have used them a bit.
Just curious - are you using them with a LEE Classic press? I have noticed that this press restricts seating depths quite a bit. I use it just for depriming/sizing due to the ultra-cool spent primer tube - and use my rockchucker for seating.

I have a set I bought a few years ago and they work fine. I use them on a Lee turret.
In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.

So I guess Lyman dies aren't so popular. Well, they were cheap. Think I'll do a bit of machine work to improve them. Less of a hassle than returning them. :ponder:
Thanks for the replies
