Basically for 40 grain bullets. What's the slowest one can get by without neck separation??

Thanks

Neck separation is not the issue. The case not sealing and staying in the chamber would be.

Correct that is what I meant. I worded it incorrectly.

I wonder how Win 572 would work? Slightly faster than HS-7

Big flaky ball powder like that does not meter well into the small 5.7 cases. It's really easy to load a over pressure round when you push it to the limits.

Aside from the poor metering, Iā€™d b interested to see how it performs. 571/HS7 was good stuff. 572 may be faster/more efficient?

Jay:

Would the new smith with the locking/rotating barrel be better suited to slower powders for better performance due to the delay in unlocking?

Nope, the issue is case size when it comes to slow powders.

Now IF it's a well made pistol the system will make handle hotter loads and faster powders.

I have a pound of 572 on the way. If I get a chance I will work up some loads with it.
