SS195LF question

Post by MHOLLEY1972 » 08 Oct 2008, 11:48

I have had 3 or 4 rounds out of three to four hundred to misfeed in my ps90. When I eject the shell I find that the projectile has been pushed way back inside the casing. My guess is that the flat part of the hollowpoint is catching on the feedramp or something and pushing the projectile into the casing and hanging there. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think it could cause a malfunction (explosion) if it pushed the projectile into the casing and actually fed and fired?

I dont know about an explosion, but u will certainly have a loss in velocity...and perhaps even some problems with ejection, but I dont actually own a PS90 so I'll leave this to someone else.

I'm hoping it is an issue with the batch of ammunition I have or at least that it will cease after a few more hundred rounds! I haven't had a ballistic tip misfeed yet.

I remember hearing about a specific lot of ammo that was doing this but it was a while ago.

How old is the stuff your using? Can you post the lot#?

Same thing happened to me, the bullet was pushed back into the casing. I bought a total of 3 boxes of 195s for my PS90 & I had three misfeeds. I didn't buy them all from the same person, nor at the same time, so I doubt they were the same lot number but I didn't check. I've switched to 197s in the PS90 & have had only one misfeed since (about 1000+ rounds now).
I later bought another box of 195s with the FsN but had no problems with it in the handgun.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Perhaps once your PS90 gets broken in, that the problem (if its not an ammo problem) will be less likely to occur. :?:

You can also try polishing the feed area on the barrel.

I'm going to blow through 2 to 3 hundred more rounds tonight. Maybe I won't have many more. Thanks for the feedback!
