Possible new S&B 5.7x28 coming out

Post by spyderco monkey » 14 Mar 2016, 15:19

Just came across this article today, which says that S&B will be coming out with both a 40gr and 55gr FMJ for the 5.7x28:

Exciting news if true.

Can always use more ammo sources :) Too bad they're still using normal bullet weights, need more 30gr or less

Had sent them an email asking as to an ETA on the new 5.7x28 stuff. Recieved a response today. Here was the response. It would seem that since it was a magtech rep that responded that S&B had handed the whole project off to them. My original email was to S&B.

Shaun,
This product has been put on hold, we do not have an ETA at this point
Sorry!

There may have been a limited run as they're being sold here in Switzerland currently as "get them while they last, out of production". Or so I am told.. there is literally also no more FN-made ammo anywhere I look.

My LGS has a couple thousand left at a price I can get four boxes of 9mm for. Ok.. I bought two ;) bullets are magnetic. I'm having a hard time figuring out whether there is coating on the brass or not.

I saw federal 5.7x28 for the first time in about 2 years for $40 a box at my local gun shop.
I don't buy any as I only want subsonic reloads to run with my gemtech.

The AE is almost sub with how down loaded it is. If the bullets didn't keep falling out or into the case it would be a decent option.

Buffman: yes, the LGS has more. Lots more, but very cost prohibitve, equal to $65 a box of 50. And it's literally lead on the shelves.. I reload and secured me a lifetime supply of cases recently ;) and VMAX are somewhat reasonably priced.

What concerns S&B, all I heard from behind the counter was that it's no longer produced nor imported. I take that with a grain of salt, since I heard that before concerning other things that "magically" reappeared in the shops. So maybe someday there is more, or FN finds its way back here.

I'm was digging through archived S&B sites now but there's no trace of it, only 4.6x30mm and it'll take a while before you and me get our hands on an MP7.

Would you be willing to get me 2 boxes and I will reimburse you?

We can get ammo shipped to us from overseas?

It would help for me to realize his screen name likely means he's from over in Europe :D

Yup, that's what it means.. I'm from Switzerland ;) Anyway, the ammo is not that great after all. There were a couple per box (3-4 if I remember correct) that refused to go off both from the FS and the PS90
