Elite Ammo Comparisons

Post by Fractal » 18 Jan 2016, 07:58

I'm the new owner of a PS90 SBR and was looking through all the ammo threads. Elite Ammo kept coming up as a good manufacturer so I went to their website and promptly got dizzy with all the different kinds of 5.7x28mm offered. So I wrote them down and listed their differences in a hope to tell them apart. It didn't help as I'm still kind of lost.

Is the differences between them other than mostly bullet weight? What advantages do the different coatings offer? I know some of the offerings say for the pistol only, but since I have a 10.5" barrel those cartridges should still work in my PS90.

They all use leaded primers, right?

Elite S4M

The loads are specific to the platform/barrel length. Do not use any pistol loads in either the SBR or 16" barrel. P/S90 and FSN use different action types, and the load is tailored around it.

They are all for different situations. Any subsonic load is going to be for suppressor use. I'm a big fan of staying in the 28gr-40gr loading for these guns. I like Pro 1, S4M, T6B. The T6B IMO would probably offer the most penetration of the group. Pro 1 is going to frag the most.

I see their Penetrator uses the 40gr FMJ now. It may offer some good penetration as well, but it's only an FMJ.

Wouldn't the S4M penetrate better than the T6B due to S4M's higher velocity?
