Cheaper than Dirt dropped their AE price to $29.59. (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/AMM-110" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Their SS197 is still over $50 a box though.

Last bit I bought was 200 rounds of AE at Academy for 19.99 per 50 about 2 months ago. None since then

I know of a few places with ammo. One place that will most likely ship it as it is a gun store with ss197 for $34/box and Federal AE for $32/box. I also know of another place from which I bought 10 cases (500 rounds/case) for $192/case. I left them with two cases. They said I was the only one who bought 5.7 from them and they didn't start keeping it until I asked them if they could get it (so most likely the two cases are still there). I'm not sure if these guys are willing to ship ammo or not, however. Both the places that i'm talking about are in the Northwest Missouri region. I would be willing to give up the locations as to where these stores are located if anyone is interested AND can locate me some reasonably priced ss198 or Elite Ammo  . Not cool I know, but if it's all I can get I will buy every bit of it....PM me if interested.

OMB guns has ss198...how ever the guy at the register wouldn't sell it to me because I wasn't LEO. He tried telling me it was restricted from civilian purchase :furious: . I tried explaining to him that it was not, and that it was perfectly legal for me to purchase. I then brought up gunbroker, in which case he told me all of those selling to civilians on gunbroker were doing so illegally. Basically you can argue with someone until you are blue in the face, but you just simply can't fix stupid. So, any leo or military on here, you can probably get ss198 from OMB.

OMB most likely has a relationship with FnH. Part of that contract specifically states that sales of SS198 are restricted to LEO/MIL. You will find this often if you look. OMB does not want to jeopardize their relationship with FnH so it appears from your experience OMB is adhering to their terms.

It is restricted from civilian purchase but it is restricted by FNH, not by any legislation. The part where he went wrong was saying it was illegal for civvies to purchase.
I often wonder where the problem starts - is seller simply passing on a lie that he/she was told & didn't bother to verify the facts? Or is he/she (part of) the reason the lie exists - as in the one making it up, or someone who is knowingly passing the lie along?
