Ok most of us have heard the announcement of the new Fiocchi contract to manufacturer 5.7.
Well here are some very important details.
1) All FNH ammunition will be manufactured here in the USA this includes SS195 and SS198.
2) Fiocchi will be expanding Thier catalog up to nine different rounds including a solid, frangible, and Sub Sonic rounds
3) Now most important of all. Fiocchi will be manufacturing 5.7 brass IN HOUSE on their machines in Italy. NO more being held hostage by the Bellies work when we feel like it production.
4) Fiocchi plans on tripling the number of rounds of 5.7 sold in NA.
These are facts not conjecture and while it may seem strange this is great news not only for all 5.7 owners but also EA.

Re: New Fiocchi Contract to Manufacture 5.7 Ammo
Jay,
It certainly cannot be a bad thing to have more in circulation. I guess we will see if the price ever seems to come down to earth. I have been shooting a TON of 5.7 lately. I have also been reloading a TON of it lately. I would not be able to afford to shoot this stuff once…just too expensive. Problem is that I can only reload the brass 2x. I pull down new ammo and load to my spec but can only shoot it 3 times total. Never understood why so many get hung up on the coating when a case head/neck separation will happen or the shoulder will crack or primer pocket wear out long beforehand. Just wish that I could reload em’ some more but…oh well, just rambling now.

You should be able to get at least 5x out of the brass. About the time the shoulder/neck/coating gives out the primer pocket does.
Don't do a full primer pocket swage. As you know the 5.7 is hell on primers. Just give the rin of the pocket a light kiss, insert jokes here, Just enough to move the crimp out of the way if 195/195 brass. The pocket will last 5x if you do.

I found some available at Target Sports. It is priced about the same as FN ammo.

Re: New Fiocchi Contract to Manufacture 5.7 Ammo
So, since my wife guards her horde of EA T6B & S4M with a passion, I'm forced to go elsewhere...
The last time I tried AE5728A, it left my Mk II filthy. I hate to dig into my stash of SS198LF, and I hate buying SS195LF just because of the BS that FN pulls with SS198LF (although I can get SS195LF at a "decent" price if I buy it by the case).
So I hit up my wholesalers and just bought 2 boxes (100 rounds) of each of:
- Fiocchi Hyperformance 5.7x28mm 40gr Tipped Hollow Point (57PT40)
- Fiocchi Hyperformance 5.7x28mm 35gr Jacketed Frangible (57JF35)
- Fiocchi Range Dynamics 5.7x28mm 62gr FMJ Subsonic (57SUB62)
- Speer Gold Dot 5.7x28MM 40gr JHP (25728GD)
Seems kind of weird to me that Speer went with a 40gr instead of something closer to the 27gr than FN and EA use.
I'm going to hopefully test all of these this weekend and I'll report back on the experience, although I don't have a chronograph (I should pick one up!).
The one interesting piece: All of them are more per round than the AE5728A (of course). The 57SUB62 is the cheapest, followed by 57PT40. Those are the only two that are cheaper than SS195LF & SS198SR. 57JF35 is slightly more than the FN ammo, and the Speer 25728GD is a whole 40% more expensive than the FN!

Okay, I missed that Buffman already did an absolutely amazing review of the Speer Gold Dot, so I'll skip that. Sorry, Buffman!

PM me your info so I can put forum name with customer name. Is your wife's name Kristy? Or, and I can't remember her name, we were friends on fuckbook on my prior no banned account, is she a red head? LOL I know strange question but those ladies are two of my longstanding customers and these ladies love their 5.7 to the point you don't want to ask them to decide between you or the 5.7
