Hopefully one of the forum sponsors just buys em all so they can make a margin and still provide us with a more sustained supply of cheap mags.

1 of 2 things will happen with this midway deal. You will receive the knockoff mags, or they will pull the pricing asap.

That would be false advertising if they ship the knockoffs. they have the AR57 mags listed already, and they list these with FN part #s, as factory originals. I ordered 3, guess I'll see what they look like when they get here.

Watch yourself. There are alot of knockoffs out there suddenly and they are not made as well as FNs.

The good news in all this mess is that FN is lowering their prices on their mags to compete now that the patents have apparently run out. We have over 200 for sale right now for $27.18 each plus shipping on our website.

To counter this, I've got some bad news. I was talking with one of the Federal Distributers. Expect cost of ammo to start creeping up. I've already seen this with the SS195 costing $23 a box now on our website. Federal did the same thing when they took over manufacturing of the .357 sig about 10 years ago. Don't be suprised if we see factory ammo hovering around the $30 a box price within the year. I hope I'm just being pessimistic....

I still have yet to buy any ss197 that is loaded by federal.. I wonder how much foichi(sp) loaded rounds are still out there? That would be a $12 increase over current prices. Not sure I could see that happening, but who knows. I take it if it becomes $30 a box the cheapest, Gander Mountain will want $100 a box...

I just built an AR57 and it came with one of the ATI 50 round mags. I had to file off a lip on the breech end of the mag to get it to fit and release. After 100 rounds, it now hangs up if I load more than three rounds into it. I've just ordered one from 57 Center so I hope that will be better.

Can these magazines be taken apart?

Thanks

you can take the follower and rollers and spring out of them if you remove the floorplate.

I'm new to the whole P90/AR57 concept. I'm assuming that the floorplate is the end of the magazine that latches into the front of the gun. I've been looking at that but can't figure ouut how to get it off. It slides a little side to side but that's about it. Any detailed instructions would be a great help.

Thanks

At the back end of the magazine is a little button. Push in that little button and slide off the "plate" on the ass end of the magazine. This will let the rest follow.

Thanks, Wolly. Any links to pix on how to put it back together? I slid everything out before I got a good look at how the rollers go in.

Thanks

Just drop both the rollers in first -- think of them as sort of fake rounds. Then, insert the follower. The part of the follower that the spring wraps around will be towards the top of the magazine (the part that has the round count numbers). The rest should be gravy.

Thanks, again!

The trouble is that when the 4th round goes in, the foirst inserted round looks like it gets a little sideways and then there is no more tension in the magazine. It sticks the follower. The three other rounds then just fall out of the mag. To get the 4th (the first loaded) out, I have to stick a screwdriver in there and move the round around until it pops free.

The thing is, when I first got the upper, I loaded about 20 into the mag with no trouble. It was only after the range sesion that I noticed this. At the range, they only allow 3 rounds in a rifle so I would not have noticed a 4th round glitch.

Ever seen this?

Thanks again.

Well I just bought 10 50 rounders from Botach for $161 shipped.
OK, I know, I know,,,, Botac/Botach I've heard all the horror stories.
Out of all the stuff I've bought form them, I've only had one problem.
Sometimes they're slow but so far they've been solid.
Anyhow, these are the "Victory" (Great Korena name, huh?) mags.

Just thought I'd pass this along. Be my luck somebody's bought these and they are crap. LOL

BTW, I've heard that ss197's work on in some of the after market mags but other rounds not so well.

I'll post how they work on 190,192,195,197 and 198 after I get the mags.

I just received the 50 rd mag from 57 Center. Dropped right in; easier to get on and off; all rounds load right up. This is the all-black magazine and it was $44 shipped. Seems perfect and I'll have it out for some work this weekend.

I just took a chance and got 6 of these:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/423.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am hoping they are not garbage. I didnt see anyone mention this site or its prices. If you look at the description then it eludes to the fact they are ar57 manufactured. I will recieve them in like 8 days from now.

Holy old thread batman.

Any "quality" and/or "range" reports to share yet?

I just bought 4 "genuine FSN" 50-rounders off of Gunbroker, but those do look interesting.

Are those slots actually "open to air" (and rain/mud) as they appear to be in the photo below?

The magazines are ar57 manufactured and are windowed. I dont have much info on them because I am having chambering issues with my rifle at the moment. See here: http://fivesevenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9379" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AR57 is sending me some new parts. My upper was serial number below 25. I was shooting the rifle at 15 degrees in the snow, it fed each time but had chambering issues. Only 20 rounds tested before i gave up due to the chambering issue (not related to the magazine).

Sorry but i do not have more info on the magazine quality at this time.

We had them and at first we thought the would be great. Non of them made it past 2k before the feed lip section self destructed. No issues with our FN mags and they have well over 10k through them.

FN mags are the best choice. I have only one made in Korea one, and it went in the trash long ago.

I concur with Jay and Justin; I would definitely not count on a KOREAN magazine; I greatly dislike these made in Korea. A few matches ago I watched a glock Korean magazine shatter its contents everywhere. I honestly they have enough experience or testing to even compare with quality USA or Austrian magazines.

Stay away from the Korean generic knockoffs.

with the price of current FN 50 round magazines it makes really no sense to me to purchase aftermarket for a few dollars less unless they were proven to be just as good. I'd use them for the range, but that'd be about it.

If they cost you anything it's a "bad deal". I only had several because they were free. They just plain suck.

Botach has Korean Clones for $9.95 + free shipping. Required a little TLC with a fine file to get them to snap in and out like the factory FN - BUT for $9.95 - load fine - feed fine. My only problen with my AR57 is it goes thru ammo like a woman with money at a shoe sale

I've got 10 genuine FN mags I'm willing to sell. But being a new/junior member who's paid membership hasn't come through as of today it appears I'm not being allowed to discuss selling things yet. But anyone interested can try sending me a pm.
