Viridian X5L
Much love to you my firearm family,
I have searched the forum and found nothing related.
I hope not to double post or post this in the wrong place.
If so, blame this "TapTalk" iPhone app I paid $3.00 for.
Does any one have any knowledge of running a
Five-seveN with a 'Viridian X5L' light/laser combo?
I've seen some video reviews via YouTube but for the most part they were unboxings or by shooters with very little trigger time.
God Bless,
JBL

Vafrum, you double posted.
Also, if you type viridian in the search, you will get 2 pages of Viridian results. I was going to get the results and paste them here, but there are far too many threads on it.
I've tried the Viridian out, but definitely do not have adequate trigger time behind it. The light is blinding in broad daylight. The strobe feature will whiteout your vision for a good amount of time, I've had it tried on me. But this is similar to many weapon lights with 90+ lumens.

I honestly didn't mean to sound rude or egotistical. That attitude is certainly not tolerated by Fuzzy, much less other admins. :p < forgot to put that in my post. It means I was just joshing in a friendly way. People here are pretty nice and educated!

Its all good, just want to tread lightly in the forum. Not step on any toes. Respect and honor go along way nowadays. Its places like this that seem to be the few places it exists. That and AM radio.
Fox news gets a credit. So do the hunting channels...
Never-the-less as a IT/IS pro, computers (at the moment) are my main income source and I know how delicate matters can be with regard to policy and what not.
All that said to say this... I bought the iPhone app hook line and sinker. Lets all just blame it. Its to blame.
I bought it only because this forum was on the list. It did have trouble finding it. Perhaps the search function is buggy, that would explain why it didnt find "Viridian". All in all its not bad, I'm not bashing it. It helps me keep my eyes on the road a little more... HA

Re: Viridian X5L
Well I bit the bullet and bought an X5L. I'm very pleased with it. Haven't put any range time in with it yet but it's so light and bright, I'm sure it's gonna be just fine.
It's on my recommended products list.

Re: Viridian X5L
Any new ideas or findings for a holster for this setup yet?

Re: Viridian X5L
Just got one, that thing is bright! The flashlight has 3 brightness settings plus the strobe feature but the laser itself is enough to light the way if that is all you need.
Unfortunately I am having one problem. Occasionally I can't turn the laser off, nor change the mode of the laser. Anyone else have the problem or know the fix if there is one?

Re: Viridian X5L
Rapier1772 I am not an expert or nearly as bright as some of the gentleman on this site, I do have a viridian x5l very bright accurate and functions very well. Having had this laser tac light for well over a year i have had zero problems, works well on my G19,5.7 and xdm 45 it really takes a beating and stays on sight. Could you possibly exchange it ? I can not count the number of rounds fired with the viridian attached and you can see the green laser in bright day light. I was able to find a blade-tech holster that fits my G19 with viridian, I have not found another holster to fit another firearm readily available. Good Luck

Never Enough, what sort of weather do you live in? I ask because I've heard that green lasers do not function as well in lower temperature ranges, and you seem to have used the laser quite extensively.

PainKillaX, you bring up a very good point that I was not aware about as I do live in a warm climate, south Florida. My property buts up to a large conservation area, lots of varmits sighted fast and accurate with the viridian and also used for HD. I do practice quite abit at the range also. Iron sights or night sights work very well for me. Just looking for that edge for that bump in the night.I use cheaper green lasers for a rifle and boomstick with nice results Respectfully Never Enough

Re: Viridian X5L
You are right about green lasers not working when its cold
. Anytime the temp drops below 40 its a crap shoot. They "green lasers in general" will not function at all. They however are real cool to exercise your dog at night in the back yard while sipping on a frosty beverage on the back porch :monkey:

Re: Viridian X5L
Are the red ones as sensitive to cold also? Lucky me I have a heater in my house as it does drop into the 40's probably twice a year here.I practice with the green at the range but am a better shot with sights for accuracy, mostly rely on green for inside the house quick target acquisition after just waking for that bump in the night. I dont think I would want to carry or use laser outside for SD, I would prefer regular or night sights. So just maybe green would be O K if you live in a colder climate. Im not an expert by any means but sometimes you just have to adapt
Respectfully Never Enough
P.S.- You could use your green laser for an excuse to go to a warmer climate in the middle of January

Red lasers are less sensitive to temperature changes.

Hey all, did a little experiment last night. I put the viridian X5L and a insight M6 in the refrigerator along with a thermometer, 12 hours later it was 33 degrees and they both worked fine.
