I'm stumped by my MKII failing to fire any round I try...
I have a near new MKII, only 200rds through, cleaned after every use, that seems to short strike every round I try to fire.
It happened for the first time a few weeks ago and I chalked it up to sitting in the safe for 6 months.
Came home cleaned it up and checked the slide and firing pin to the best of my abilities.
Everything seemed to be in order so I headed back to the range only to have it not fire again.
Tried multiple mags, tried just a few rounds in the mag or the full 10 I'm allowed here is komifornia, with the same results.
Each of the rounds I tried had a small impression in the primer but obviously not enough to discharge the round.
Any ideas, or help would be appreciated.

Re: MKII short stroking issue...
It's not short stroking, it's having a failure to fire. I'd remove the slide cover and firing pin. Sounds like there's brass shaving in the firing pin channel, which we've seen happen here a few times

Got it failure to fire.Buffman wrote:It's not short stroking, it's having a failure to fire. I'd remove the slide cover and firing pin. Sounds like there's brass shaving in the firing pin channel, which we've seen happen here a few times
I'll take a stab at pulling the slide apart and inspect the firing pin channel as you suggested.
Thank you for the quick reply

It shouldn't bee too hard to do. Watch out for the chamber indicator spring
Re: MKII Failure to fire issue...
Before you get too far into tearing it apart, dry fire it once or twice. That should clear the firing pin.

Sounds like something slowing down the firing pin; in congruence with the others, above, I'd check your FP channel and the tip of your FP.

Re: MKII Failure to fire issue...
I cleaned out the FP channel out last night and there was no doubt how gunked up the firing pin was.
No brass shavings but the lube I used looked like it had started to down and became more of a gel.
All cleaned and ready for the range.
I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Thanks again for the great advice.

As a follow up, shot my Five seven at the range last weekend and after cleaning the FP channel she is running as good as ever.
Thanks again for all the help guys.

Re: MKII Failure to fire issue...
I had the exact same issue in a PPK I used to have. I had previously been overzealous with the application of gun oil causing multiple issues including slowing the firing pin to the point of not firing. I also greased the rails too much on a Kimber Micro decreasing the slide velocity to the point that it would have FTFs.
