Finally bought the five seven

Post by Engineer » 03 Mar 2012, 12:00

Been lurking for a year or two and finally made the purchase of an all black fixed sight five seven.

I remember people on the forums talking about getting them new for less than $980...oh how their their popularity grown and/or the value of our dollar gone to crap as I am getting gouged $1299 for mine. It arrives on Mar 8 and at least I finally have my first gun, the gun I've been considering for years...and its a FiveseveN.

Cool.

The fixed sigh ones are a little more spendy usually... Forum sponsor SHTF is selling them for 990

That has to be your dealer jacking the price

The FiveseveN was my first gun also, and I love it. Hope yours comes soon.

Last I checked the Scottsdale gun club was selling it for $1100. About 3 months ago adjustable sights version.

Welcome to the club! As you know there is a lot of great info here. Yeah, you may have paid a bit much, but you'll love the weapon and probably won't even think about the cost after you shoot it a bit.

Have fun!

Honestly I would cancel the order and buy one online. Figure out your transfer and shipping costs, because you can find them for under 1K from a few places, maybe even from forum sponsors here. Unless you live in remote AK, or HI, your dealer is asking you for a large margin.

But that is just me. You will love the gun, even if you paid a bit more than necessary.

Welcome!

Not sure of margin that your dealer works on but you paid way too much for the firearm. I assume you paid sales tax on top of that. Hey its done and enjoy it. Easily could have gone on gunbroker and seen literally a dozen firearms for less with shipping (some free and some maybe $25) and eventual FFL transfer (usually $10-20).

Definitely on the higher end of the scale (say $950-$1300) for a Five-seveN ... BUT ... you've got the firearm you want so congrats! Enjoy it!

By the way, you said "all black" ... no gray controls, everything is black? If so, sweet. And that model does typically cost a little more than the black/gray model from what we've seen.

He paid a hundred or so more... and perhaps supported his local dealer so that he might be able to bring more to the table, in the future...

I don't see the big deal, or anything wrong.

:thumb:

Don't worry about that extra hundred, it will pay off in the end, and go out and have fun!!! :cya:

Took my new five seven to the range on Sunday and let me just say...wow.

Put 200 rounds through and the gun performed flawlessly. I am not an experienced shooter but for my 15yd and 30yd relays I certianly looked like one! At 15 yards was able to keep all shots within a 3" diameter and at 30 yards the diameter only increased to about 4.5"in. At 50 yards it will still pretty much like shooting a laser.

There was also the drool factor and for some reason it seemed the ROs kept needing to pick up my gun to "check" it.

sounds sort of like my first impressions with the fsn. I didn't think much of my accuracy with handguns but when I first shot the fsn I realized it wasn't all. it was very incouraging and made me want to be become even better.

good purchase! remember to stay safe and I hope you enjoy your fsn as much as I have mine.

Just sold my usg fixed sights for $775 after owning for 5 weeks. I was displeased with the poi shift between ammo types. I love this gun. I have since reordered with adjustable sights. Advice, don't buy unless equipt with adjustable sight option.

You could have sent it to me and had them converted to adjustable night sights.
