Re: is HS 5 a good powder for the FSN or PS90?

Ok, edit my statement to "sometimes". I've been pretty lucky with powder, although it seems to be powderapocolypose 3 at the moment. I still wouldn't gamble my 5.7 on these old cans he's found. Maybe a more conventional caliber if load data is available and the powder is still good.

I don't think I'd even shoot with someone that was doing that.

Re: is HS 5 a good powder for the FSN or PS90?

So those cans of powder are 25 years old? I'm not sure I'd risk my 5.7. No data, no way to compare data, no way is the manufacturer gonna give you any ideas, and you can get True Blue, Blue Dot, Longshot, Silhouette, etc that are all proven to work well. Why bother?

Re: PS90 + Blue Dot + 40 Grain VMax

I've never crimped a 5.7 round, haven't had any necks crack yet either. I'm still running through my 1x brass though, haven't gotten alot of sizings into my supply.

Re: PS90 + Blue Dot + 40 Grain VMax

Ok, so I was right to stop at 6.7gr. I thought I had read about the PS90 getting smokey near max.

Re: PS90 + Blue Dot + 40 Grain VMax

So if my neck dents were few and far between, and I saw no primer movement, did the smoky loads indicate pressure, or was I ok?

Re: Trade my sights?

I think I found someone willing to trade me, but he wants to trade slides. I have no idea the history or round count on his pistol, but I know mine well. With both slides in front of me, I just need to drive out that star pin in the back, then swap sights and covers, or is there more to it?

Re: reloading question

I load all normal bullets to 1.580, only really short ones like the Bee and that Speer 40gr will come up as short as Lyman is saying. I think I heard the info in that book is wrong. The Lee info is generic, this forum is really your best source. True Blue is great as mentioned above, I've heard AA5 ...

Re: Lacquer coating?

I'm reporting cycling issues with crappy lacquer right now. My fsn only runs on good lacquer, otherwise I get FTEs. I did just polish my chamber, see what happens when the snow melts.

Green also has a more narrow temperature band in which it reliably operates.
I thought they recently figured that out. I don't think it's as good as red yet, but much more usable in real life than before. I'll be doing green on my M&P, since my Tirant will obscure my sights.

Do you have a chrony? I'd say your results look similar to mine, but I'd have to see velocity to be sure.

WTT: Adjustable sights for fixed

Not very fond of my adjustable sights, like to trade them for a fixed set.
