Re: New FN not feeding SS195LF

I have questions: In many places in this Forum, people write about "blue box" and "white box" 5.7 SS195 ammo. When you write "blue", does that mean "blue and white", or all-blue? I've got boxes of SS195LF that are in an all-white box, and boxes of SS195LF in a blue-and-white box. I've never seen SS1...

Re: Help Wolly Pick a Scope

Wolly...I purchased a Vector Optics 6-25x56 scope for less than $300. The website showed it mounted on a BMG and I bought it because it has a first focal plane reticle. I wanted to see what the sight picture was with that type of reticle. The (mil dot) reticle increases in size as you zoom in, keepi...

Re: Five shots into gel (plus 2 through 4 layers of denim)

This morning I spoke with Mike Harris, an engineer at Nosler, about the CTST bullet. He said that 50 grains was the lightest they are planning to make, barring a substantial order from Winchester. The implication was that it could be made lighter (different core?) but there was not yet a demand (rea...

Re: Five shots into gel

Ahhh...CTST. That's a joint Winchester-Nosler product and the Nosler plant is located right here in Bend, Oregon. I'll go visit them on Monday and see what I can learn. You follks have any questions you want me to ask of them?

Re: Five shots into gel

There is no cannelure on these bullets. Wouldn't that be a problem for using them in a semi-auto .223 rifle? Or the FNH?

I understand the divorce problem. I've had trouble with two wives. The first one left me, and the second one won't.

Back Door to Gun Control

This is scary. A Reuters News Service article presumably written October 14, 2009 was just sent to me. The full article is here: http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE59E0Q920091015" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The text (author unknown) accompanying the article said th...

Re: GunPal is now online!

Last weekend (10/31/2009) I tried to send the Silver Membership fee to Justin via GunPal. When I signed up for the account, I inadvertently entered an old credit card number (differing by one digit from the current one). The payment to Justin bounced, of course. When I tried to correct the entry wit...

Re: Powder measure or hand trickle?

With respect, that doesn't answer my question. A scale with an "accuracy" of 0.1 gr would be able to measure to within +/- 0.1 gr of the true value. The "precision" of that scale (the ability to repeatedly measure that same value) is not specified. In engineering, it is generally assumed that if the...

Re: Powder measure or hand trickle?

As described throughout this site, powder load is one of the most critical aspects of reloading the 5.7. Almost all of the scales (reasonably) available are described as being accurate to +/- 0.1 gr. But since the 5.7 is sensitive to loads that differ by 0.1 gr, isn't a significantly more accurate/m...

Re: New Member Introduction

Gentlemen: I've owned the Five-Seven handgun for about a year now and I really enjoy shooting it. But I don't enjoy the cost of ammunition. Like others, I found the FiveSevenForum while searching for the seemingly impossible-to-find 5.7x28 loading data, so that I can re-load the cartridges and save ...
