Thanks, it continues to impress me evertime I shoot it. Found a good load and can't seem to crank them out fast enough to cover a shooting session.Rapier1772 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 10:43That's a nice looking rifle, the fact that it shoots 5.7 makes it even better![]()

300 Blackout Barrel
Has anyone swapped their SCAR 16 barrel for a 300BO one? Was looking to change over but wanted to know if anyone else has messed with that. I would ideally like to go with a 10.5-11 inch barrel but hesitant to drop a grand on a barrel setup.

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
Nice. What do you think the interest level would be for a mag insert that would let folks be able to have a repeater Rem700 action built 5.7? Just gauging interest before I jump off a cliff with this thing. I know a million different factors come into play but just out of curiosity for me really. I...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
No damn clue. But if you think you hear .223 is better than the 5.7 it will only get louder. I just read a review of a Howa bolt action, but it was a short action. Howa, its a Mauser action, has a 1500 series short action rifle. It comes in .223 which could be re chambered, they also have detachabl...

Re: Winchester 97 (M97 Trench Repro)
^ The M97 used by the military was a commercial produced version that got modified for military use by the Ordnance Corp. As far as I know there were no military contracts out for them like the Garands, Carbines and 1911s. Would be cool to own a shotgun made by IBM or RockOla for sure though!

Well this one does and doesn't fit the category. I meant to put a pic up this weekend but did not get around to it. This light is a Streamlight TLR/VIR and is currently mounted to a 10.5 inch 300BO.[img2=

Winchester 97 (M97 Trench Repro)
Just figured I would share this build I am currently working on. It started life as a Winchester 97 (production date 1907) and was reincarnated as a M97 Trenchgun replica. Cut the barrel to 20 inches, added heat shield with bayo lug, new furniture and refinished the gun/wood. All I need to finish is...

A few days behind the power curve but have one of these and mounted it to my G17 for home defense. Neat little piece but didn't suit what I needed so it is currently a dust collector in the safe. Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
So I think the magic weight for the bolt gun is 40 grain (used factory AE and had good results). Granted I only got 65 yards to plink with on the range it still holds a pretty good group. I averaged 2095 FPS with factory loads. Got some pull down 40 grainers coming from EA so may be able to load up ...

Re: Elite Ammunition 50gr Subsonic in Gel :D
I have done some research where guys get fairly accurate results from 55 grain bullets in a 1:14 barrel, I may have to play with some and see what they do in my gun. I have to make some stuff up as I go along with what I read here since most everyone here has a 1:9 twist barrel and some guys probabl...

Guess I should pay more attention to the subject line when I reply! What is the minimum FPS you think it what I was wanting to ask. I am still fairly new to this round as a whole, I have done tons of reading on it and minimal reloading so far but that will change. I had the pistol many moons ago and...

What do you think the magic FPS is to get the desired outcome? I am running factory AE 40g FMJ right at 2100Fps.

Re: iFire's PS90 Load Data
Yep with 1x brass it is. The 35gr VG has a long shank for weight, meaning more bullet in contact with rifling, so you can't push it as fast as a same wight or even slightly heavier bullet with less shank. fantastic, guess it is time to start playing with other bullets then. I wanted some 55g sub so...

Re: iFire's PS90 Load Data
I think I have pretty descent FPS with 36g Barnes Varmint Grenades and 5.5 grains of AutoComp. Last batch was 2320 out of a 16 inch barreled bolt action. Does that seem on par with what others are getting from that barrel length or should I be getting faster? 1x fired FN Brass CCI 400 small rifle pr...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
So update on the 27 grain bullet problem. Turns out it might have been a range problem(my range looks like a jungle at the moment), there were a few blades of tall grass in front of my target and I believe the bullet was hitting those and starting to tumble. I could be wrong but a fast moving small ...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
5.7 uses the same bullets as .223. So ANY .223/5.56 rifled barrel will work for it. Keyholing is normally an issue with too heavy a bullet and a long twist like 1:14. NOT the other way around. Who the hell thought 1:14 was a good twist rate for a .223 round that likes lighter bullets? What are the ...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action
Hopefully this topic isn't completely forgotten about. Just curious if anyone here that has a bolt action 5.7 has had any issues with the 27 grain factory fn ammo? My 1:14 Shilleen barrel doesn't seem to like it, it keyholes every round.
