Re: Obamacare, Liberty, 2nd amd. Naturalized citizens
screw Obamacare and screw buying anything through the government. I had to switch my insurance. I went online to a private insurance broker, and purchased a policy in 15min. No bs, no red tape, no government!

Re: How will the gun-grabbers spin THESE numbers?
Correlation indeed does not imply causation. The only convincing research I've seen was done at the University of Chicago, linking abortion rates with reduced crime - the higher the rate of abortion among women in poverty, the lower the crime rate 18 years later. Yet while we cannot say for sure tha...

Re: Those Damned Liberals!
I always thought I was a liberal. After all, I'm a member of the Libertarian Party :P I still call myself a "true" liberal. While I'm a politically active member of the NRA, I like reading about these other groups. They may not be politically oriented along the NRA axis, but anything that promotes r...

Re: SuperBowl, Coke, WTF?
I choose to respectfully disagree. Understandably so; I only speak English and I am American to the bone. I just can't see personally how English is "my" language; it's the language of our former oppressor, and while I'm fine with borrowing it and even more fine with it becoming the de facto world ...

Re: Those Damned Liberals!
We have the right to bear arms. Constitution says nothing about "guns". Since a well-regulated militia uses guns, that's what we are guaranteed the right to bear. Hundreds of years from now, when weapons are phasers and laser guns, we will have the right to bear those as well. I hate splitting hairs...

- "America the Beautiful" is not the national anthem. Any citizen of our country must know that; NO EXCEPTIONS. - Most countries are defined by a single ethnicity, culture, and language. The United States is one of the few which, by design, is NOT. What makes an American an American isn't being (or ...

I hate the fact that suppressors are NFA items. It was added to put them out of the hands of poachers, not for any particular public safety benefit. For those who depend on their hearing for their livelihoods, suppressors are a much needed accessory to preserve hearing. Once you damage your hearing,...

battery life is better with red as well, and they can be made smaller.
that being said, I installed a green Viridian X5L on my FsN and like having the power to light things up...before lighting them up!

reflex or laser sight? recommendations?
I'm a big fan of reflex and laser sights; such technology wasn't available when I was in the US Army way back in the day. I use both on my rifles, I'm trying to decide whether to add a reflex or a laser sight to my FsN, and am having a hard time sorting out the wheat from the chaff with what's out t...

Nashville Armory. 25 yard indoor range, all rifle and pistol calibers allowed (although rifle calibers must be used in the rifle half of the range). They've got a FsN USG and a PS90 in their rental inventory. Not the cheapest range ($20/hour) but within reason you can shoot whatever you want at what...

Re: let's talk a little bit about what is wrong with chicago
Maybe Chicago needs to work on their social problems that are creating the incentives to commit crime and violence in the first place, instead of blaming the weapons. Even if they successfully managed to eliminate all firearms from city limits, without changes to the social climate it just means peo...

good point - I prefer to shoot alone. I do get a fair number of friends who want to tag along to the range to get some trigger time on my firearms. That I don't mind, but I've never heard an offer for someone to pay for or provide their own ammo. Which is odd because it's the first thing I provided ...

The balance between state and federal power has been terribly out of whack for decades...and really got worse in the post 9/11 climate. And the Supreme Court has really lost its power in checking the executive and legislative branches. My strong interest in the gun lobby is probably only 40% about g...

Re: What is your SHTF Pistol/Long Gun Combo?
I have a very tacticool Heckler and Koch MP5SD .22lr. There are lighter 22lr semiauto rifles but it's what I've got, and it's pretty easy to maintain an inventory of a few thousand rounds (when I get down to 2000 rounds I start buying more). It's the firearm that I've put the most rounds through and...

well I'll be damned. I walked into an Academy Sports store, and they had more SS197 on the shelf than I could carry - no limit. I did feel guilty about buying all 40-odd boxes they had so I just bought 10 and called it good. $29 too - little things like that can really make your day

I just looked at that thread. It's strange, that's for certain. Lots of people citing this test or that test. No one citing the available data on 5.7 performance against humans Or perhaps their biases lead them to ignore the anti-personnel performance of one cowardly psychiatrist with little handgun...

T There are plenty of debates regarding the Five-seveN as a "viable" personal defense handgun. By personal defense, what we really mean is how effective is the weapon against human targets. Since the public does not have ready access to anti-personnel performance of the Five-seveN by the Secret Ser...

There's been a lot of talk in the hearing about the victim's autopsy reports. This is going to sound sick but... is there a way for us to see them? Perhaps via the Freedom of Information Act? While it's morbid to glean data from the autopsies of the victims of a psychotic murderer, it is hard data ...

military bases are supposed to be secure facilities. when I was in, I always felt an enormous sense of security because I lived on post. I had to as a private; after being commissioned I chose to. I was enlisted when the Fairchild AFB shooting happened. So these incidents are nothing new. I would no...

well, that's interesting. The Mk2 I just got a few days ago...the magazine in the pistol had the new magazine with the vertical rib, but the two extras - no rib. I managed to get a single box of SS197 out of my LGS yesterday for $29; they have a small stock for use in their range rentals.
I also ordered some Federal ammo through Cheaper Than Dirt, also for $29. Federal seems to be the only game in town lately.

I think what he means is that some handguns, like Heckler and Koch, have releases that work on a pivot that gives leverage to allow for easier one-handed slide release.sk21 wrote:Thanks. I guess they are unlike my HKs, etc.

Maybe I'm just really lucky, but after deciding that the Five-seveN was what I wanted, I went to the LGS in Nashville, they had a Mk2, I paid and went home a happy camper!
