I have temporarily "retired" my PS90 carbine and RUGER 57 pistol given the horrific ammo prices. I have a small hoard of ammo that I want to reserve for a zombie apocalypse. (Vortex SPARC II red dot on the PS90 and HOLOSUN 509T circle/dot on the 57.) Such a pity to sideline them, INSTEAD I bou...

I see a total of 4 posts (including mine) under RUGER 57 here. Maybe it's just so new or maybe just no love here B/C it's so FN biased. To SBR or not to SBR
I like the extra 150 fps. velocity of my factory PS90 barrel over the SBR version (Wikipedia source for velocity loss). OTOH I like the "extra badassery" of the SBR on an already badass carbine. Most "Ballistic Reticles" lie!
This is B/C they are made with ONE load at ONE altitude and ONE temperature. Change any of those very much and the "ballistic reticle" lies to you.

I wish my Vortex SPARC II red dot had a circle/dot reticle. Then I'd have two aiming points, one for 5 - 15 yards and one for 50 - 100 yards. They would at least get me in the ballpark.

I'd buy a pistol in .22 WMR if the barrel were, say, 5 or 6 inches. Eight inches for a .22 WRM pistol barrel is a bit too long for my taste. But the price is OK.

Since the Germans just had to re-invent the high velocity sub gun ammo wheel have there been any comparisons of the P90 ammo and the H&K MP7 ammo. 5.7X28 ammo costs
Recently (Dec. 2013) I've been paying as much as $35.00 per box of Federal "AmericanEagle" 40 gr. ammo. My dealer wants 45./box of FNH ammo.
Is this in line with what others are charging?

Re: replacment hammer for ps90
I have a Steyr AUG with a "plastic" hammer (engineering grade polymer) and it will last more than two times as long as the metal hammer in a gov't. isued M4 or M16 by test. That's why it's not metal.
I'd use nothing but a stock FN hammer for my PS90.

AMMO PRICES!
I began paying $25.00 a box for FNH ammo in August.
Now I'm paying $35.00 a box for Federal Ammo B/C they want $40./ box for FNH rounds.
Will this ammo hoarding frenzy NEVER end??

Yep! The fast breakdown is very cool, very similar to my Steyr AUG.
As it happens I just demonstrated the PS90's field stripping for a friend tonight. Being a mechanical engineer he was interested in its ambidexterious design as well.

Why I love the PS90: 1. Frikkin' badassery when carried on a range 2. StarGate rangers use 'em 3. That cool magazine location 4. Frikkin badassery... :thumb: 5. Ammo is so easy to find ;o) :( 6. SBR forms are so cheap and process so fast :lmao: 7. They look like something from an AirSoft wet dream 8...

I put a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight on my PS90 and it works very well for the 25 to 100 yd. distances for which I feel the carbine is best. And for $89. I can't argue with the value. My TRS-25 is just the correct height with its standard height mount. Plus it seems rugged enough as well, seeing as...

How about renewing the forward edge of the reciever lock hole with JB WELD epoxy?
That stuff is actually more wear resistant than the the PS 90 polymer stock.

Could be a phony laser made for Simunition guns. Those guys go for looks over function.
OTOH it IS a neat location for a laser. But with my Bushnell TRS red dot sight on my PS90 I don't need a laser. The only laser I have is on my Ruger LC9.

OOOOEEEE! shootin' fun!
The other day I took my PS90 out for the first time. I went thru 100 rounds with two magazines SO fast. It's like shooting my Ruger 10/22 with 50 round bananna clips. (Only more 'spensive.) Anyway, I got my Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight zeroed and found that the PS90 is pretty accurate with FN 40 gr...

COLLECTING... I'm going to collect all the 40 gr. or heavier ammo that I can over the coming year. I'll save the brass and begin reloading. That case is so small that I'll have to be VERY carefull with powder measuring. (Even 1/2 grain over max load can be quite dangerous.) Now to "collect the bulle...

I've seen threads like this on Sniper's Hide. All I can say is that this nation's civilians are ARMED and if a civil war ever broke out it would be frikkin' bloody. PS90 Storage in Butt (cleaning kit?)
I see my PS90 has a small storage compartment in the butt. So far I've only stored the Allen wrench for my Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight in there but I think I'll put a cleaning kit in too. Who has done this and what did your use? Obviously a tiny plastic dropper bottle of barrel cleaning fluid, bar...

Re: Sight for my PS90 (arrived today)
So the REM 3 has a "ring" reticle? That's fine with me because my Steyr AUG has a built in Swarovski 1.5 X sight with a ring reticle with which I'm very familiar. Just one more reason to get the REM and try it. I mounted the TRS-25 red dot sight today and its height is perfect as-is. (I did not get ...

FN 2000 and Steyr AUG
I have owned a Steyr AUG bullpup for 18 years and still think it is the most innovative assault-style semi auto made. BUT the FN 2000 is, IMHO, the equal of the AUG in many ways, ergonomically and quality wise. All they need is a flip-down forearm handgrip to make it better. Thank GOD the FN 2000 ch...

Ditch,
All 5 of my new mags are FN mags. Actually $28. each (at Urban Civil Defense in Henderson just off Gibson by the RR tracks). Same place I got the PS90.
But, alas, no ammo at all and none for at least several weeks.

Blue, I'd get a Burris FastFire III BUT on careful examination it has the same weakness that my el cheapo TruGlo similar sight has. Sight for my PS90
Just ordered a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight for my PS90.
1. It's CHEAP at $79.99 on sale.
2. It has good reviews for ruggedness and holding zero.
3. The TRS mounts lower than an EOTEC sight (my 1st choice, natch)
So, whaddya think? OK for a first optic?

Now I'm going to submit a Form 1 and pray for a 6 month turnaround.
The guy is very reasonable. I bought my new Ruger LC-9 there with a LaserMax for $400.

I'd like TORS to convert my long barrel to an SBR. I think I need to remove the barrel before I send it to TORS (with a BATF approved form) if I want to keep my cost to $188 + shippiong. Nes pas?
