Re: Slowest powder in 5.7 x28 Fn pistol?

I didn't like blue dot when I tried it, the flake Jay mentioned makes it a pain to drop, and I was still getting flame burning out the barrel with only 4.0 gr of powder.

Accurate #5 has been ok, don't have any #7 to try, and haven't given some of my #9 a try yet.

That was fast...

Like many here, I'm still trying to get reloading components, and given the popularity of True Blue, have been looking for it ever since starting reading this forum, and getting my 5.7 reloading going. Today I checked on Powder Valley around noon PST and they had 1# and 4# available, I couldn't clic...

Re: Let's see your bench!

Yes, I know this a few months gone since the last post here, but figured that since I finally got going reloading the 5.7 round, now would be a good time to document what my bench does look like. Not the cleanest, but a lot less mess on it than normal. Also, for those that care, the reloading block ...

Re: Reloading equipment for 5.7x28mm

Hello. Gotta hard one for youz guys... I know virtually nothing about reloading. I reloaded .44 mag in a share shop once for a short time, not just to save money, but to make better than I could buy; but the owner who was supposedly experienced and knowledgeable was an idiot. His instruction and ow...

Re: Minimum Powder Load

Finally got all my ducks in a row to test this stuff and get a working load in my FSN. All of my delays came down to brass prep and tools, Universal Hand Primer doesn't hold this case well, didn't have a small primer pocket reamer, "little" things that kept getting in the way. Anyways, using the 50g...

Re: Little Dandy rotor for True Blue?

Yes, this is a necro post, but this was the only thread I found for a search of little dandy that dealt with the Little Dandy. While my Uniflow did "ok" for the powder charge, was wondering if anyone else has more to add to this, I'm trying to drop Blue Dot around 4.5 grains, perhaps even some Longs...

Re: Do you trust electronic scale/trickler combos? Which on

I normally use the RCBS chargemaster combo, but once I got to see what the blue dot looked like up close, used my dad's old RCBS uniflow. Between the flakes and what others reported here, I'm not chancing gunking up my electronics, just using the scale to confirm charge settings. Also, I'm not sure ...

Neck Separation

Going through my first sets of size/decap, and had 2 cases with the neck separating and staying in the die, first time I've ever had that happen with any caliber. Doesn't appear to be much of an issue with the other cases, though when I (dumbly) tried to take the decap/expander out to remove the nec...

Re: EA PFP Trident Load Data

Much difference in recommended powder charge from the 36gn to 32gn bullets? Was able to buy a pound of Accurate #5 and #9 (no #7 yet) and a couple pounds of Longshot, and that the Hodgdon burn rate comparison chart puts the True Blue and #5 next to each other, would it be fair to say that the load d...

Re: New guy needs a hand on 5.7 reloading

I've only ever used the Lee dies myself and had excellent results from the word go. Your description is a little vague in places and to help you we'll need a little more detail. All the dies I've seen or heard of for 5.7x28mm are full length sizing dies, so your comment about sizing the neck to rec...

Re: Minimum Powder Load

Found some Longshot and a box of VMAX 50gr, if I interpret what I see on ifire's thread, with the 40gr vmax's with 5.5gr of Longshot, I should start somewhere around 5.0gr, and be able to work down from there, I think I'm aiming for 4.0gr as I'm not needing to get subsonic out of my FsN, and not wor...

Re: Minimum Powder Load

GONRA's not sure how to take dfosland's "do people really have that bad of a luck with the RCBS dies?" comment. For the record (again, again) my brand new RCBS SMALL BASE sizing die with RCBS shell holder sized 970 Scharch once fired cases in a Hollywood press (big, strong, no flex) Just Fine using...

Re: Minimum Powder Load

No worries there, the two that we have as MD shoot the BMG with me, so it shouldn't be a problem here, elsewhere might be a different story.

Re: Minimum Powder Load

It sure didn't dent anything on the half inch plate we were playing with, hell, they barely moved, and some of the .45's were banging them around more than this thing. I'm in WA state, south of Seattle/Tacoma, so it would be a bit of a drive to get to Texas, and I'm not a fan of summer, so if'n I ma...

Re: Minimum Powder Load

Never thought about using subsonic as a search, doh!

I'll look into the 55gr setup too, thanks.

This may all be a moot point if I'm not allowed to use the 5.7 for Steel Challenge, but could be interesting none-the-less.

Re: Minimum Powder Load

Being able to use it is still a question, one that I am trying to get answered. When I used it the other day, it was just a bunch of us giving things a try, I don't know if it will be allowed in competition, but it was fun to try it anyways. Got a walther p22 as my other one, so it's not like I'm hu...

Minimum Powder Load

Greetings all, figured my first post here would be something that may have been hashed out before, but I'm not really finding it, even looking at the load data, as most of it is in reference to starting loads, max loads, velocities, and consistencies. All well and good, but what I'm really looking f...
