Try cleaning the chamber with carb cleaner and Q-tips. Residue may have built up, even with only 250 rounds through it. If it ran the first 250 rounds through without issue, and nothing has changed, then that is the only thing I can think of. Wiser heads may have different thoughts.

Interesting. You are loading to a length shorter than mine. What is really interesting is that the case neck tension held the bullet firmly enough that you did not set the bullet back by hammering on the bench. My investment in a Factory Crimp Die may have been wasted.

I have decided to abandon AA#7, due to large variation in recorded velocities. Others report acceptable results, but I cannot recommend it. I saw huge variations in velocity and pressure at both the low end and high end of the loading spectrum, with less than stellar deviation in between.

I bought a Lee 218 Bee Factory Crimp Die to modify for use with the 5.7. The collet slots ended up being more than short enough to allow it to be shortened to function with the 5.7 case. I THINK we ended up taking .235 inches off of both the collet and body.

Grantness and all others. I suspect we could find a linear correlation between the bearing surface of a given projectile and the mass of the projectile. We already know two "sweet" spots in this function: SS195 and SS197. One possible complication is that the two bullets use different density cores....
