Re: Stripping lever replacement how-to

We're working on the safety levers guide. Pics of each step with words. Probably in 2 weeks time. But basically use a roll pin punch to punch down the right pin while the safety lever is pointed down (off), pry off the right safety lever, depress the safety catch plunger and push the safety body ca...

Re: Reloading equipment for 5.7x28mm

If my conversation with the Lee product support people is correct the 5.7 dies available are not pacesetter dies, as the Factory Crimp Die is not included. The available die set is a two die set, the same size and bullet seating die as the pacesetter set, just no FCD. There is some issue with makin...

Re: Crimping the 5.7x28mm

Here is what I have ended up with. Lee 218 Bee FCD. Collet Length 1.093", Threaded collar Length 2.0". This gives me a crimp length of between .030 and .040" depending on case length with a diameter reduction of between .002" and .003". This is with a Lee Turret Press. Is there a "Idea" crimp length...

Re: Crimping the 5.7x28mm

I used a 22 hornet FCD as the starter for modification and my shell holder is a hornady. My final collet length was 1.075" which gave me about 20 to 30 thousandths on the crimp. Since you are using a different FCD start by sticking a resized/trimmed piece of brass in the shell holder and measure th...

Re: Crimping the 5.7x28mm

I used 218 Bee Lee FCD that I had ordered with Lee 5.7 dies. Used a Band Saw to cut the die body/sleeve to 1.952 and the insert/collet to 1.095 per Maerlyn13. Got to above measurements...Very close after the polishing... The Insert/Collet has now a little play ...Loose ..in the Sleeve...Is that OK?...

Re: All Black FiveseveN

sadly not only are the safety levers backordered for me, but the takedown lever as well. i plan to follow curlysir's excellent directions on the takedown lever when it does arrive, and i'm guessing the safety levers will arrive for us both around the same time, and it may end up being a collaborati...

Re: All Black FiveseveN

Questions for the experts: :ponder: Do you have to remove the magazine safety disconnect bar to remove the pin on the right safety lever? And how do you remove the pin on the left side? Do you slide the assembly out the left side and then remove the pin? I know there is a spring and detent under the...

Re: Right priced 197

Went to a gun show this weekend in Dallas and the 197 ranged from $20 to $30. The $20 stuff included taxes. Bought several boxes. Not a huge supply.

Re: First post. Talk me into/out of this pistol.

Was at a gun show this weekend and the going price for a new 5.7 was $950 plus tax. Had a good selection in all colors, even had an OD. One all black and it was $1049.

Re: All Black FiveseveN

What ever you do when working on the FsN DON"T get the bright idea to clamp the light rail into something to make working on the gun easier. The pressure you need to apply to the cross pins will create micro cracks where the rail stops and the frame starts. This will cause your rail to snap off und...

Re: All Black FiveseveN

thanks for posting. I briefly though about this when I first saw this thread. I looked at my FsN for a few seconds and decided it might be more than I want to ge into. after reading your post I decided to look again and now I'm thinking it should be a really simple process. when ea starts doing the...

Received parts today by USPS. Ordered on Tuesday August 9, shipped on August 10, received August 13, Not bad at all! Safety Lever on back-order and will ship when available. Re: All Black FiveseveN

Been doing a little more research on actual replacement of these parts. Info is rather limited, as FN only appears to have manuals available if you attend a course on site. Did find one book on Tactical Weapons Assembly/Disassembly that does appear to have some good information. I did find I would n...

Re: All Black FiveseveN

I think the black makes for a nice looking 57. Maybe next time I will order one. Does anyone know how much for the black parts kit? i think paid somewhere short of $20 when i ordered a set about a year ago. I just ordered these parts and they are still less then $20 including shipping. Very simple ...
