Well, I supposed I've lurked long enough. Howdy, Y'all. I'm Travis, now a long time Five-seveN adherant since I won this one in a card game with Han Solo. He was strangely happy to part with it, like he killed someone in a bar with it or something. Curious.

Happy New Year folks! I just joined the FN forum. I have been doing a lot of research on the Five Seven. It was next to impossible to find one locally. SO i started calling all around the country. I even called places that had five sevens for sale online at gun brokers.com and gunsamerica. Even though they had an ad online, they didn't have one when I called. I finally found one in Florida and bought it. It's being shipped to a local FFL. I cannot wait to get this gun in hand, literally.

Was on another FN forum that got hacked or something and won't let me back on and the email thing isn't responding so figure its dead...frustrating since I WAS a supporting member. Googling for info found this one so signed up.

Own a FN 5.7 and an FNS-9C very happy with both after many disappointments with pistols from other manufacturers.

Cerakoted both my FNs

Riverkilt,
You did post but initial posts have to be approved before they can be seen due to too many spammers & bots. Anyway, welcome to the forum. We'd love to see the Cerakote jobs.

Also, since you basically made 2 initial posts, I deleted the second one. And the pics should post now, if not let me know, we'll see what we can do.

Hello Guys,

FNG here.

I caved and bought an FN 5.7 2 weeks ago, making it my second FN handgun. The other is an FNP-40.

I am a reloader, Conceal Carrier, and competitive rifle shooter. I don't shoot pistols near enough IMO. I finally started reloading for pistols this year, and have been improving in that regard.

I upgraded the barrel to an EFK 5.7" threaded so as to use my Silencero sparrow...I'm surprised at how loud the pistol is even with a suppressor.

Looking to learn more about the pistol and share experiences.

Hello. I bought an AR5.7 upper, and have so far run 99 trouble free rounds through it - FN & American Eagle. Not on an AR - but on a Lyndon, which is an eBay AR trigger jig modified to fit an Ares AR thumbhole stock. I'll get some pics up after awhile.

I have a second design, using an unmodified trigger jig, and a modified California compliant non-pistol grip - that I'm using as a pistol grip. Need to throw some super glue on it or epoxy, maybe sink some self-tapping wood screws into the 3-D printed plastic bits to keep it from coming apart under recoil, and then I can go shoot it. One of the least expensive 5.7x28 pistols around, and can be built entirely of parts purchased off the internet. Slightly easier than doing an 80% AR lower.

Glad this forum is available. Look forward to interesting discussions.

Thanks! It's pretty odd for a 1st gun build, but it works - 99 trouble free rounds, half FN, half American Eagle.

Take 1 Hera Arms thumbhole stock;

1 AR57 upper;

and 1 trigger jig off eBay. Add buffer tube, castle nuts, buffer, spring, and FCS. Hacksaw well, and pin together. Go shoot.

First post here. Happy 5.7 owner!

Post by Biomedtechguy » 01 May 2018, 19:47

I saw my first 5.7 at a friend's house about a year ago. I was intrigued by the design of the round, the way the pistol fit my hand (I'm 6'3" 260#) He had the blue tip ballistic rounds in it, and the kicker was the 20 rd magazine. When he opened his gun safe, there was a golden glow of light and the hallelujah chorus sang out (in my mind) in other words he really had a nice collection and the experience behind his choices. I saw my first suppressed AR up close and he had a Saiga shotgun as well (I love my Kel-Tec KSG w/Aguila mini shells, all 24 of them ready to go).
Anyway I got MY 5.7 about 6 weeks ago, went to the range once, then again a few days later to qualify for my Concealed Carry permit.
So I would love to conceal carry it, but in south Louisiana I wear cargo shorts with my button up short sleeve shirt about 10 months a year, and 501 tactical pants when I'm at work.
Concealed carry holster or clip suggestions? Or should I look for something smaller. The point to carrying concealed is to have my weapon with me as often as possible, and for it to be-well-"concealed" but also effective, and that means I have to be proficient with it.
Thanks.

Welcome.

The FsN has the foot print of a 1911 just a lot lighter. This is what I use and have on me currently. The felt backing makes it very comfortable. Add to it the ulti clip option that allows you many option including not even having a belt on.

Have you seen the 40-50yr olds?

It started with the millennials and Gen Z was born into it, but the 40 and 50 yr olds are head down, staring at their screens, walking like zombies.

Hey now, I'm one of those & I don't walk like that. Around here at least, I don't see a lot of people other than millennials doing that. It's fun driving like that though, leave pickup in 4WD and go off-roading any time - it's better for waking up than coffee :D

All forums are suffering. Face Book, Instagram etc have all killed forums.
Forums do have a one up on all the new forms of social media and that is it's a great storage for data. Unlike the others that after a few weeks are basically gone forever even with hours of scanning through old posts you have it all here and easily searchable

Greetings Ladies & Gents. GJ Hickman. I own multiple weapon platforms and have a fair amount of shooting/ownership experience. That being said, i still consider myself a noob as i like to be the dumbest guy in rooms full of wisdom.

I recently got married and my wedding gift from my wife was an FsN! I know, i know, she’s incredible. (Funny part is, i got her a Ruger LCP pocket 380...both totally unplanned) Anyway, i was taking the advice of the moderators here and wanted to introduce myself and say that i look forward to learning all about the ins and outs of this incredible weapon platform. Thanks for having me, and i look forward to lots of knowledge.
Safe Shooting

Howdy. I’m here because I’m looking for my first home gun(s). I’m a wounded warrior* with TBI and nerve damage. The 5.7x28 round appeals to me and so I’m here. Will be asking for help as to whether these weapon systems are for me.

Every Blessing, Tony

Retired Army living in GA. I collect and shoot mostly MILSURPS from Trapdoor Springfields to Retro AR15A1s and M1As.

Bought an FN FiveSeven a few years ago and enjoyed shooting it when ammo was .60 a round and available. Found the forum looking for reloading info.

Will be doing a lot of reading and hopefully reloading.

Hi everyone.. I've been eyeballing the Five-seveN for a long time and finally got me one. The username implies, I'm from Switzerland and and avid collector, reloader, shooter. Looking forward to reading all I can find about reloading 5.7, we also feel the ammo prices rising here. I pay 50 Franks for a box of 50 (5.7x28, S&B) and around 65 for the FN stuff. 1 Frank is about the same as a USD.

Hello, first time poster, US citizen.

I missed the boat on the FsN before, because I read the unfortunate internet propaganda that the 5.7mm was no better than 22 mag. I read more now and realize all the advantages. I am not likely going to have my rifle on me if I encounter a threat, and the FsN seems capable of being accurate down range in a way my conventional pistols are not *in my hands.*

In the recent Indiana mall mass shooting, the good guy hit the bad guy at 40 yards with a subcompact 9mm Glock, I think something like 8 out of 10 times. My thoughts on this were: 1) I commend the people who have trained and can land such hits, but I do not want to bet my life on making 8 of 10 shots at 40 yards with a subcompact Glock, and 2) the bad guy was wearing body armor which perhaps necessitated the landing of 8 hits. Even if the bad guy was wearing steel plates, and I had to make a head shot at 40 yards, I would also be more likely to make a head shot at 40 yards with a rifle….or a pistol that shot like one.

So my LGS is on the lookout for me to get an FsN Mk3 MRD. I found this forum thru some internet searches and have enjoyed reading some old threads. I look forward to diving more into the archives.

Greetings all. I stumbled onto the 57 bandwagon a couple years ago when a buddy of mine needed a new AC more than he needed his FN ODG 57 and a shit ton of ammo. I ran through around 800 rounds before I found out the ammo costs over a dollar a round. Fast forward I never really liked my FN 57, kind of dont fit my hands well and the sights are horrendous. So I sold it and bought a PSA rock after hearing a lot of good stuff about them. I have to say the rock is a much better gun for me, I absolutely love it and shoot it well. Currently I am researching and preparing to reload some 5.7x28 ammo. I am a total noob to reloading. I know the 5.7 ammo is likely the worst caliber to learn reloading with, however I am a fairly hands on guy. I am going to start real basic with the 40 grain Vmax and True Blue. Since I refuse to participate in social media, I really appreciate all the info on this forum. I doubt I would attempt to reload without it.

Welcome!!

Yes the Rock is a hell of a great gun and the only one out there that can give the FsN a run for it's money.

With fuckbook being the way they are and sights like that in general shit for archiving we have been seeing a slight uptick in forum traffic, not just here but other places as well. Go through the reloading section, I would start as far back as you can go, we used to go back another 6 years but a forum crash took care of that, and read.

Have you seen my video I created about re loading the 5.7?

I have seen many of your videos, your review of the Rock was the final blow for me to dump my FsN and order a Rock. I actually ordered some of your S4 from your last batch before I sold my FSN. The S4 arrived just after my Rock arrived, the S4 runs well in the Rock. Looking forward to scoring some T6B or at least the projectiles so I can eventually roll my own.
I want to ask about an observation I made with the Rock. When I stripped it down and used the barrel to see how a loaded cartridge looks inserted in it, I was surprised how much of the cartridge head hangs out of the barrel when a round is fully chambered. Is that normal? I know the brass is much thicker the closer you get to the head, but that thing really hangs out of the barrel.

Well a pic would be better, without seeing what you are seeing I don't want to comment. The base of the cartridge is VERY thick and it's made that way.

You have to keep in mind while still under fuller pressure unlike normal cartridges the 5.7 case grows out of the chamber instead of the case sealing and locking itself in the chamber until pressure drops down.

Hello.
I've just joined the Site because My Son has recently bought a PSA Rock and is now finding out how expensive ammo is for it, so I'll be reloading for him.
I'm 66 years old and had "Thought" about buying an FN 5.7 for years but they were just too "Pricey" for me. Even though I was an FFL 01 from 2006-2016 and had an SOT from 2010-2012 they weren't giving much of a break on FN Pistols back then IF you could find them.
What got me interested in the 5.7 is A Friend of mine was an FFL 07 w/SOT and he invited me out to shoot all of his Class 3 Full Autos (except his Mini-Gun because he had just spent $15.000.00 to fix it and didn't want it to happen again, LOL!). Along with all of the other stuff, he let me shoot his FN P90 (yes, Full Auto!) and then hit me up about reloading 5.7 for him since I was/am a Reloader. I bought the Dies for it but never reloaded any because of all of the "Horror" Stories going around about it. Whenever I go to the Range, I always pick up brass and have several thousand pieces of 5.7 that I've been saving. I was recently going to put it all up for sale or see if the brass could be converted to swage into Projectiles. Fortunately for my Son, I'm a procrastinator, LOL!
Anyway, to make a Long Story Short (Yeah, I know....TOO LATE, LOL!), I'm Glad to have Found this Site, Plan on Learning a LOT, and Hopefully Contribute something Useful.

Hello, I am the last to join the 5.7x28 club, or so it appears. After seeing the old posts I have to wonder, is 5.7x28 dying? My stomach sank when I started to see the lack of activity on this forum, but have to wonder if everyone is on a different platform.

ALL forums are hurting. There are dozens of other options that weren't here 10 years ago. Fuckbook groups for one.

That said with more and more people getting banned from fuckbook over guns we are seeing more traffic.

Also lets be honest, we are about a niche caliber and a niche firearm platform. We aren't a all in one for all firearms.

Hello.
Recently new member. First Post.
Have small utube channel by same name with some recent test results and gel most recently. More of that to come as I just ran loads into gel from the LC. If any trouble finding that let me know.
Hope to be posting (likely questions more than answers) more in the future and plan to gradually move away from that platform, most likely to Odysee, but we'll see. Open to suggestions.

I just bought my first 5.7 last night. Not sure when I will have it in hand. Not sure it will be my last. I chose the Palmetto Rock after some research. I will probably reload after some more research in that area. That is my biggest reason for joining. I will be following your guys lead on reloading.

Thanks in advance,

I joined this forum yesterday. When people aren't mad at me for one thing or another they call me "Jim". I will leave the other names to your imagination but I will say that most come from a military environment. I am supposed to be retired but I home school an eleven year old grandson so my "retirement" is lively!

I am enjoying my Smith & Wesson M&P57, purchased late last summer. Reloading for it has certainly been an experience! The whole reason for it was a search for a reliable pistol chambered in a reliable (center fire) round that a daughter-in-law could be comfortable shooting. (She is bothered by recoil and loud noise.) The FN5Seven came up in the conversation and I began investigating. I fondled an FN, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson. The store didn't have a PSA but I really liked the Smith & Wesson compared to the others and so began the journey. I contacted Mr. Wolf about a problem and while he really couldn't help me he suggested I join this forum. I did solve my problem with Mr. Wolf's help.

I have been reloading since late 1968 after I left the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. I DO NOT know it all! This forum has already taught me a whole bunch about the 5.7x28mm FNH cartridge, I look forward to learning more, and hope to be able to share as well.
