Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I don't particularly shop for guns, I just like looking at what's new/available when I am shopping for ammo or reloading supplies.
However, I do want one of those Chiappa Rhinos just because they are different  Too bad they're also expensive. If I ever got one, I'd get it in a .40S&W so I could finally have a gun that uses clips

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
Probably just because of the shopping weekend. I was there the week prior (looking for rifled slugs for my dad) and they still wanted $27.99 for SS197SR. No AE to be found until black Friday, then it magically appeared on the shelves.Rapier1772 wrote:Nice price, GM must have gotten their head out of their anterior orifice. Last night I saw several boxes of FN 5.7x28, 40gr Hornady bullet in Bass-Proshop. The price was $29/box of 50 rounds.

Re: WTB: 5.7x28mm ammo
The several boxes were loaded factory ammo. Sorry, my previous post suggests boxes of 40gr bullets. What I meant was the factory loads had 40 gr Hornady bullets and they had at least 20 or 30 boxes of ammo.
Re: WTB: 5.7x28mm ammo
Starting to see more 5.7 ammo here in Texas.
Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I was visiting family up there and picked up some ammo at Fin Feather Fur. They even shipped it home for me and said I could do more orders by phone. It was 29 or 30 for a box of the 40 gr hornady rounds.Tuffie38 wrote:I just bought some from Fin Feather Fur in OH over the phone for $1250 a case shipped but cannot remember the guy I talked to.

Naw. It was a necessary move on my part. It's only taken... what, four years for ammo to begin to be available anywhere near my area? And I still can't find 22LR! LOL!

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
Don't feel too bad about not finding the .22lr ammo. My local Walmart receives shipments every day. The .22lr ammo comes in every day.
Every day, the same geniuses line up at 7:30pm - they know that's when the deliveries are brought out to the floor. Every day these guys buy EVERY .22lr, 9mm, .45acp along with anything else that comes in.
Every day. Every box. The same people.
Soooo... who can tell me why ammo is hard to find?

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
Same here, but the scenario I raised above is why the online prices are so high. I have not bought SS197 since it was $16-$18/box. If the hoarding stops, maybe prices can begin to approach that level again.blueorison wrote:One main reason why I don't check stores.jgreenberg01 wrote:Don't feel too bad about not finding the .22lr ammo. Yeah, I stopped at a WalMart that was a couple hours away for us. They get 22LR every day. The guy said the same 7 guys line up and buy them out EVERY STINKING DAY.
Seriously?
Who the frack shoots THAT much 22LR?? Makes me want to go there just to kick them in the knees.

I bought a box of ss197 at another place (the only box of 5.7 ammo they had) and paid like $32 or 36 for it...
Dumb considering I did not need it AND Gander has this stash for $25...
It was the only box on the shelf and there was no price. Once I walked all the way to the front of the store I did not want to tell the cashier I did not want it... :wall:

5.7X28 ammo costs
Recently (Dec. 2013) I've been paying as much as $35.00 per box of Federal "AmericanEagle" 40 gr. ammo. My dealer wants 45./box of FNH ammo.
Is this in line with what others are charging?

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I moved your post here since this thread has been going regarding what ammo is costing and where to get it.
Couple of LGSs are trying to get ~$35/box here too, both said "That's a good deal these days." I informed them that Cabela's is selling the same ammo for $25/box & I'd just buy some when I go visit family, plus I reload.
Guess I'm in the minority because they still haven't changed their prices.

Checked Sportsman's in Idaho Falls today, they had plenty of AE & 197 for $28 & $30 respectively. That's better than the $35 LGSs are asking but still not good.
One good note, I am seeing more reloading components on the shelves lately - except for powder, that still sucks.

I managed to get a single box of SS197 out of my LGS yesterday for $29; they have a small stock for use in their range rentals.
I also ordered some Federal ammo through Cheaper Than Dirt, also for $29. Federal seems to be the only game in town lately.

well I'll be damned. I walked into an Academy Sports store, and they had more SS197 on the shelf than I could carry - no limit. I did feel guilty about buying all 40-odd boxes they had so I just bought 10 and called it good. $29 too - little things like that can really make your day

You can carve that turkey one way or the other,
it's still under 25$ a box after tax, lower than the lowest I've seen.
I don't think I've shot 5.7x28mm in a long time. But a big part of it is that the night matches are on hold.
The 3GN Nationals are coming to Texas in April, if I RO I will definitely be shooting stages again with my FsN for fun (not score).
I should post the vids from last year mflgerbrshmmff
good post,OP! I hope many now will have ammo to shoot (and not complain hahaha!)

Honestly quite pointless to purchase from the sites that have one-limit orders, as with shipping you'll pay godly amounts for any decent order size. I might pick up some AE for target ammo from cabbalas though.
Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
When I go shooting at local shop in SC, I always look at ammo prices. Many months ago the FN57 was going for over $50. Yesterday it was selling for $28--heck the AE was selling for $24--all available.

Yeah the local shops love to get premium on it, I won't pay more than $22 dollars with shipping, for any Five-Seven ammo unless it is duty rounds/EA/rare rounds. I can readily find the ammo and even SS198, etc.. can purchase it for under 450 for a thousand rounds.

•29 rounds loose SS195LF, in a white box. All FN, all new 55 cents/rd *not pictured*
•30 rounds loose SS192, in a white box. All FN, all new 60 cents/rd *not pictured*
1,529 rounds total. If you want all of it, it's all 50 cents/rd. $764.50 I've priced it more than fair and will not drop lower.
I will accept PayPal, with the typical add 4% for the fees, unless you send the money as a gift, then no fees for anyone. I'm in the Elma/Montesano area. Willing to ship, on your dime--I have a UPS account so most things the ship same day funds are received.

Just got 10 boxes of Federal at the Gander Mountain on 45 for $22 and change a box. No apparent limit. YMMV
Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I almost feel a little guilty. I keep a pretty good stash on hand of 5.7, and when things got crazy, I couldn't resist. I sold 500 rounds of 197 on gunbroker. I got $530 plus shipping, and the buyer was so happy he called me and asked if I would sell him more at the same price. I didn't. This week I bought 500 rounds of 197 for $173, including shipping. I may just go out and shoot it all up in one day, just cuz

July 1, GunBuyer---FN mfg--$23 per box. Over $500 no shipping
Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
Just bought 10 boxs of SS197SR for $23.5/box, and 10 boxs of SS198LF for $26.10/box. The 198 price really caught my eye, as it had a Buy it Now price of $350 on gunbroker, but was listed in a no reserve auction! A previous 10 boxs of 198 from the same seller went for $266.00.

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I don't mean to hi-jack this ammo thread, but one thing that I learned recently is that you have to be really careful when buying on Armslist. I was dealing with 3 different 5.7 Mk II sellers on Armslist over the past 4 weeks, and ALL 3 were scammers. I discovered um all, and had an ongoing conversation going with the Armslist website people with all 3. :thumb:DmL5 wrote:Scam?

PSA's daily deal today (10/20) includes American Eagle 5.7x28mm 40 gr TMJ 50 rnd boxes for $19.99. Shipping for 10 boxes was $12: $212 shipped for 500rnds is the best I've seen in a long time.

Plenty of 198 on gunbroker but personally, I'd rather have the 195 for pull down & reloading or the 197 for plinking.

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
I recently bought AE TMJ rounds from palmetto state armory. I was not happy that it took two and a half weeks to deliver, which I didnt understand because they were in stock, but since they were a pretty good price 17.99 per box I just loaded up and waited patiently.
Good price/terrible process.

Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?
Until recently, the last time I bought ammo for the 5.7 was when only FN brand ammo was available. Had been living off FN brand ammo and reloads for years, because 5.7 ammo had always been sold out or was for sale for $35+ a box by some arse selling it at a high price because "it was going to get banned soon".

My thoughts on them so far. Fast and prompt shipping. Packaging looked good on the outside, but no inner packing other than a cardboard topper. Don't get me wrong. The ammo was packed tightly, but if the package was dropped or took a hit, I would have loose ammo all over. One box was slightly damaged, as the outer box took a small ding. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the company.

$42.55 for shipping for 1k rounds. Others on different forums have posted much less shipping as well and in Missouri. I have emailed the company to see if there was an error in my order. I went and put the same order in today and the total price was $46.00 less. Ammo was the same price.Cheef wrote:I just ordered 2000 rounds of 197 from JG.

Just received 500rds of SS198LF from Ammo Supply Warehouse with great service and packaging. $31.00/50rds
They had a note within the package that said they are trying to reach forums by offering incentives of somekind. Now with that said I don't want be in the wrong by posting this or make it sound like I work for them and also not trying to step on Elites' toes. I'm just showing my interest in seeing what could become of this if the forum was offered something.

J&G have earned my business. I worded out a polite inquiry about my high shipping charge and just got this email back.
J and G Sales <[email protected]>
Sir,
I apologize for the inconvenience. It does appear there was a problem with the calculation for the quantity price and we will be issuing you a refund.
Thank you.
