nice review buffman. Where did u get that helmet at? I have my own AP round I reload which goes through 2 level 3a's body armor. I am pretty damn certain it would go through the helmet but you never know!!! anyway you should test the varmintor round next.

I picked it up off a local forum. It's a standard US gov't surplus helmet..

I can see S4m does not come close to penetrating so it must be pretty rigid.

I tried the same thing back when I did my series of 5.7x28mm tests. I recall the S4M doing slightly more damage, but not even close to a pass-through. I no longer have the helmet, but I also recall it being level III, not IIIa. I could be mistaken though.

A level III helmet would be pretty heavy. Anything I've found says most all ballistic helmets are IIIA rated.

Remember when I said I was using an exotic copper harder then brass and a great many said BS? Well not so much huh?
