I've been reading the older posts here a bit and have done some reading before. But not many posts in the past year or more so maybe there is some new information.
I have an AR57 with a 12" barrel that I'm running a Karma 5 on that I share with my regular AR15 (.223) I've ran some 5.7 thought it after confirming with TS that it can handle it and it won't void the warranty. I'm happy with it but would like to put a can on my 6" barrel.
I know the whole don't put a can in your rails because of heat thing, but I'm ok with plinking that way, not running FA.
What are the can options for in the rail cans for the AR57 6" barrel.
SAR57 from Gemtech
22 Sparrow from Silencerco?

Re: AR57 6" barrel suppressor options
Technically, a suppressor with an OSD under 1" will fit, so you can get the sparrow in there. I have a Spectre II that I've used on my FsN with good results, but I haven't tried it on my AR57 yet. It should fit as well.
Personally, I would find a LGS that stocks suppressors to try them on for size because with a 6" barrel I could see attaching/removing it being a challenge depending on the length of the can. If the end doesn't stick out beyond the rail far enough - there's no way you're getting your fingers in there to tighten it down (yeah I know, TWSS).

By the way, the pic you posted is a 16" barrel, not a 12".I have an AR57 with a 12" barrel that I'm running a Karma 5 on

my bad, it is a 16" barrel. never really measured it and forgot that the 16" was the only length in stock when I ordered.jgreenberg01 wrote: By the way, the pic you posted is a 16" barrel, not a 12".

A 12" barrel requires a Form 4 to be submitted to the ATF and a tax stamp issued. Here is what it looks like on an AR57:

Re: AR57 6" barrel suppressor options
Hello all - brand new to the forum, first post. I've owned my AR57 upper in 16" configuration for many years now and am looking into a few options. I purchased a 6" barrel from 57center and plan on putting the to-be-shortened upper on my pistol lower for now (tax stamp to come). I've been looking at the Gemtech SAR-57 but was pointed to the Silencerco Spectre 22 by a local shop.
Does anyone have a direct comparison of the SAR-57 and Spectre out of a 6" AR57 receiver? Sound levels comparable? Ease of installation? Look on the gun? My take is to [mostly] not compromise on a title-ii firearm. When a silencer is designed for the specific round used it is generally better at noise reduction. When you start silencing multi-cal you generally lose some of the reduction on certain calibers. Sure it's 114dB out of a P22 using normal velocity ammo in .22LR, but what about noise levels out of a 6" AR-57 barrel? This spec does not say anything about what I need to know.
As far as cleaning a silencer, I would not be putting enough rounds down range to justify cleaning in a centerfire platform. Of course in a rimfire application, disassembly and cleaning is highly recommended.
At the end of the day I feel I'm choosing between compromises. I either purchase a silencer for more money that has less utility (Gemtech) but probably performs better on my specific platform OR purchase a silencer for [edit] less [/edit] money that has more utility (Silencerco) but probably performs worse on my AR-57 platform. The ability to use the Spectre on multiple platforms that I own, though, is VERY tempting.
Why are these decisions so hard?!?
