Hollywood?
Anybody ever see our venerable FiveseveN in use in any movies? Just a thought...
Re: Hollywood?
On the old forum there was a list of movies, games, and TV shows where the FiveseveN/P90 made an appearance.

Re: Hollywood?
Seeing the P90 is old news, I'm sorry to say. But never seen the FsN. Were there 5.7 shells falling in the Matrix lobby scene?
Re: Hollywood?
didn't someone say the new GIJOE movie is going to sport one?

I thought those were .32 ACP shells from the Skorpions K. Reeves used.Mister Freeze wrote:Seeing the P90 is old news, I'm sorry to say. But never seen the FsN. Were there 5.7 shells falling in the Matrix lobby scene?

Re: Hollywood?
In the X Men movie where the bad guys storm the school, they are carrying P90s.
The only good part of those films
Also, in Hitman, at the end they are carrying P90s and F2000s.

Re: Hollywood?
In the video game Metal Gear Solid there is a Five-seveN. Some other video games as well, I think youtube has videos of people using FsN's in different games. I know Resident Evil 4 has it but they called it something else, it was a gun that would go thru multiple zombies if they were behind one another.

I used to play a lot of Goldeneye on N64 in HS. One of the weapons on there is called the RCP-90, which is really a P90.

Yeah, I remember the RCP-90 and now, all these years later, that I know what a P90 is you're right! I'm going to have to fire up the N64 and play some.

Also, the PC game Jagged Alliance 2, unfinished business allowed you to have a P90 if you played with the 'lots of guns' option.

I found this site the other day.

I don't remember it being mentioned before. It has quite a few movies listed and some of the weapons used in them.

Gamer (Movie)- In the first scene, Gerard Butler pulls out a 5.7 and drops some guy.
Chuck (TV show)- In this most recent season, the "villain" used one in the season premier, and on last night's episode Chuck was holding one, though it was hard to tell.

Re: Hollywood?
Yeah there used to be a post about Chuck. EVERY MAIN BAD GUY EVER AND FOREVER in chuck will always wield the FiveSeven. They use it as an indicator. The higher the possibility of evilness in a character, the higher the possibility they wield a FsN. So basically if you see a good guy wield one, they will later be revealed as a baddie.
I've looked carefully (not OCD carefully, but freezeframed) over many scenes in which the FsN's appear in Chuck (there are many scenes). In each one, the baddie usually has a FsN adjustable sight USG with a red lasermax mounted.

Never noticed it before, as I got interested in and bought the weapon between seasons. But it is very cool seeing it. My girlfriend loves Chuck, doesn't know much about guns. I just say "I've got the one the bad guys use!" and tell my buddies who haven't seen it it's the "Splinter Cell" pistol. Thank you FsN, for being such a neato pistol

Another TV Sighting
Don't know if anyone cares, but the TV show "Human Target" (kind of a dumb show, but I was bored) had a guy with an FsN. It doesn't actually get fired, but the dude who's holding gets shot, and then he drops the gun. There is a shot of the gun on the ground - definitely a FsN.
I think they have the show on Fox.com. Is around the 45 minute mark, and the guy holding it is a fat Asian henchman-type guy.
I thought it was cool...
Edit: On Fox.com, there is a single-scene called "Underwater Shooting". The FsN is on the ground at the 00:50 mark. Then you don't have to watch the whole thing.

FsN in Human Target
About 30 minutes into the latest Human Target episode (Corner Man) the main character is caught by some baddies and one of them pulls an FsN. It was amusing when they made the hammer pull sound for it when they pointed it at him

At least the safety was off. Well, at least until the baddie dropped the gun

Re: Hollywood?
Every counterstrike has had the 5.7, It's actually one of the ways I learned about it, the first being an article in some gun mag I had picked up at the time.
All I can remember is I was very disappointed when they changed the rail to full spec 1913, as I hate the lock grooves, and then when that hideous square trigger guard came out..... I felt so betrayed. The round trigger guard had been so iconic and made such an impression on me, I knew I had to have one.

They do that in the show "Chuck" also - every time they point it at someone, even if they are just turning a little. Its like, "Uh, you just (supposedly) cocked it... How does turning automatically decock & recock a gun?" :lmao:fooschnickens wrote:It was amusing when they made the hammer pull sound for it when they pointed it at him

Re: FsN in Human Target
They do that in pretty much every movie or TV show. Each time the camera cuts to the baddies (or good guys), they re-rack the weapon. Apparently viewers are too dumb to know when a round is already chambered. Or maybe they just like the cool sound. But then again, they typically shoot 50 rounds or so from a 10-15 round magazine before having to reload...Rapier1772 wrote:They do that in the show "Chuck" also - every time they point it at someone, even if they are just turning a little. It really gets me when they do it with shotguns. Why, WHY, do you need to rack it every time you're going to point it somewhere?jgreenberg01 wrote:They do that in pretty much every movie or TV show. Re: Hollywood?
Which reminds me of something else that is foolish... Why do these cop/spy/military shows always have the actors chambering a round? Even if they just chambered one? Every cop I've met carries one in the chamber already, I'd be willing to bet spies carry chambered, I know the military does and most of us citizen types do as well (PRK citizens are excused for open carry).
To make it more realistic, they should show people chasing down the ammo they've just ejected

Towards the end of the V episode, John May (aired 4/13/10), the character Ryan Nichols' wife had broken into his safe. She spread the contents on the floor, where you can clearly see a FsN laying.

Re: Hollywood?
Newest episode of Fringe has a couple modified FsNs near the end of the episode. Had some weird little accessory attached to the rail. Made it look pretty cool, even if it didn't serve a purpose.
It almost looks like the little crimson trace units they make for pocket pistols.
Also noticed a SCAR making its way into the new DeCaprio movie, Inception, and it looks like Mr. Bauer even has one in the finale of 24. Must be a good year for FN PR

Re: Hollywood?
These were in burn notice:
FiveseveN
P90
Scar
The game series Socom from back in the ps2 days before the ps3 even came out had the p90 and the FiveseveN. The p90 was called the f90 and the FiveseveN was called f57. I had no idea what either one was. The "f90" very inaccurate and fast shooting, was seen as a noob gun because it was pretty much like a shotty for close range because the bullets flew everywhere, like a shotgun. I remember liking the f57 because it had an extremely high capacity compaired to the rest. Now that I know what the guns are, it is pretty cool looking back on that game.
I think it sucks that mostly bad guys always have the p90 and FiveseveN. Doesn't really matter to me, but you know how the general public looks at things. "Yes lets ban that gun, I saw it on X tv show and every bad guy on there had one!"

FsN seen on TV show - anyone catch it?
On Human Target last week (2/12 maybe), the "Kill Bob" episode, the Russian wife/agent sports a FsN IOM. You see a close up of it in the "jousting" scene where they drive towards each other hanging out the passenger door. Just thought it was interesting. I never get to clearly ID guns on TV or movies, since I own that and a Walther PK1.
Interesting choice by the consultants. Anyone know them? Probably a small community of folks who would recommend that weapon for a tv show.

Re: FsN seen on TV show - anyone catch it?
There's a thread somewhere, I think it's called "Hollywood" or something. I've seen the FsN numerous times in Fringe, Chuck, Human Target, and I think there's another. Oddly, it's usually used by the bad guys.
Re: FsN seen on TV show - anyone catch it?
I guess Ft Hood gave it that status.... Didn't think about that.

Re: FsN seen on TV show - anyone catch it?
Human Target has had FsNs in previous episodes. Chuck used to have the bad guys using the FsN almost exclusively. Here's the thread for FN on the small screen:

Almost every 'bad guy' on Human Target uses either the FsN or the P90. I've noticed it since I'm an avid viewer. A lot of forum members here think the show a bit hokie, but I don't care.
I like the show.

I agree about that Pucci not floating the proverbial boat. Talk about shows that feature the FsN sort of crossing over... Human target had a much more (IMHO) easy on the eyes female, unfortunately she was only in one episode though. She was originally from BSG: Grace Park. I'm trying to remember if she handled the FsN during the pool fight scene...smportis wrote:Yea, but Pucci doesn't do it for me.

I also liked that BSG had the Beretta rifles too...what were they again? Oh, yeah. The Cx4 Storm. They put a different flash hider on it, but it still looked pretty cool. I'd never seen one before, then heard others talking about how they shot handgun ammo and used the same mags as the 92's and that made me want one.

If your quick enough you can spot a Five seveN on the bottom left row of guns when the girl opens up her closet full of guns in the new movie --Faster with Dwayne " The Rock" Johnson. I'll see if I can find a snapshot of it.. About the only good thing in the whole movie.

Just came back from the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle where they are doing the Battlestar Galactica exhibit. Got to see that FiveseveN IOM with me own eyes. The grip was painted a gross dark brown and they didn't do a good job applying it, and the undermount thingy was weird. Also it looked like the controls were all painted grey, kinda sloppy. It says "Imported by FN somethingy something" on the slide though. Definitely neat to see I was like OOOOHHH I know this!!

Re: Hollywood?
I rented a couple "gun" movies last weekend and thought I would share a few cameos by our favorite weapons.
The first movie, "Faster" with The Rock, was pretty decent and had a lot of different weapons. The FsN was only shown hanging on "Killer's" armory wall. The Rock was using the cool 2.5 barreled Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan throughout the movie chambered in .454 Casull. There is an assassin called "Killer" who is uber-pretentious and totally into guns. There is a scene with him and his newlywed (in a sexy wedding dress) taking target practice shortly after their ceremony (it's cooler than it sounds). As I said, it is actually a pretty decent movie and is entertaining in it's on right.
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Faster" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The other movie I watched was "Gun" with 50 Cent and Val Kilmer (the guy has really let himself go - it's sad). The movie wasn't so hot (big surprise) but I was entertained due to all the gun references throughout the movie. It seems the movie definitely has the gunophile in mind. The movie is about arms dealing and 50 Cent is running around constantly talking about his .50 cal S&W and how badass it is. There is also some great scenes with the PS90 even though they call it the P90 when demonstrating it for potential customers. They have a scene where they describe its armor piercing capabilities and shoot it at armor while discussing it's low recoil. It was almost like an FN commercial. PS90 fans will like the movie just because of that part.
Hope you have fun watching them!

Re: Hollywood?
I watched that movie the other day and it was pretty entertaining in its own right. But it is some serious gun porn for FsN lovers... When one LEO states that the killer uses "something called a 5.7x28mm", the other LEO states "that is a new round and some nasty s#!t". He said, "it's designed for the military". They make it sound like it's a thermonuclear hand-cannon. lolhdeharo831 wrote:the newish movie THE HIT LIST Cuba godding jr uses the FiveseveN
I can't imagine a bigger starring role for the FsN than this movie. It is black with grey controls and gets used A LOT!
Highly recommended!
Re: Hollywood?
Supposedly the Five-seveN will be entering the Call of Duty series in the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 (I believe the P90 has been included before, but not the Five-seveN).
Re: Hollywood?
the BG in Covert Affairs(USA) used 2 P90 on last week episode. Ill try to get a couple of shots to post here

It was always the P90, long before the civilian version, the PS90, existed. Unlesss of course the gun you're talking about in the civilian version with the ridiculously long barrel.ShockedNKansas wrote: There is also some great scenes with the PS90 even though they call it the P90 when demonstrating it for potential customers.
Re: Hollywood?
Sons of Anarchy season 4 opener just ended. There were a couple references to the FsN.
Early in the show an ATF agent is listing guns the IRA has provided to the Sons he mentions an FN fiftyseven.
Later at Opie's wedding, one of the Russians describes a "cop killer" that "penetrates kevlar" and hands Clay a FsN.

Slapped my girl on the leg and told her "The Russian ain't coming back from the table, worse thing is he's fixing to get shoot with a gun
he gave them!"

Fringe finale, has a very quaint new version of the FsN.
Usually, tacky series just put a lasermax or light on the FsN, or use a clone.
The Fringe series has always had the best reincarnations of the FsN. The finale (pt 1.) has a really rad one.

Last season of fringe is powered. I'm glad FOX didn't repeat the error of cancelling it, as with Firefly.
Captured off the 2nd episode of this last season. I brightened the image so you could see the detail, more clearly. Originally using FsN's, they went to a prototype FsN that fired highly-accelerated rounds (imagine that). Then from that prototype, the pictured firearm you see was developed. They really spent time (and money?) on this prop. Which makes me smile.
I'm going to claim that the gun it is modeled after is a Walther P99 AS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps they changed it such that the narrower and shorter grip would allow easier manipulation for the actors and mainly, actresses that wield it.
