Hey guys,

What's the current status on the Accurizing service? I can't take this trigger any more and I'm planning on buying a new toy, so it will be easier to live without my 5.7 for a while.

Hi Lisa,

Can you please send me a link to a page that describes what you do to the gun to accurize it? How many pounds is the trigger pull before and after the accurizing?

Thanks,
Alan

OK, searching around, it sounds like you have a list established and people send their firearms in when prompted? What kind of wait time are we talking about for the list (I know, I know, just an estimate/ in general)?

As for the number of rounds before the trigger work... I sent mine in a year ago without me having fired the weapon at all, had it less than 1 hour. As for the comments on the work, the BEST money I have spent on a weapon modification EVER!!!. Normal you can feel a "break" when the trigger "fires", but after the work, even a year later and 1500 rounds, it is still as smooth as glass and new (to the 57) still cannot feel the break, even though they can feel it on their own weapon. For any fence sitters, I highly recommend the work and the Night Sights. I have had nothing but praise when people have compared a modified and my weapon side by side.

NOOB Alert!!! :)

I have been reading on this and have a bunch of questions.

Will this affect reliability in any way?
Long term Performance?
Safety?
is this just for competition?
do you recommend it for SD, HD and CCW?
why is this called Acurizing if this is trigger work

a few more on what is listed on the website. :ponder:
This is what the website list and my thought on what they mean.

Removal of magazine safety == is this the ability to pull the trigger with no magazine? why does so many people ask to keep it that now you offer it as a option?

Smoothing of the hammer to sear contact. Greatly improves trigger action and creates a crisp release == I realy don't understand what you mean by crisper?

Reducing trigger pull by 50% == you only need to pull the trigger half of the distance. is this in takeup or overtravel?

Increase hammer spring pre-load 20-30% for crisper disconnect == Again I dont really understand what crisper means. does this reduces uptake or makes the trigger lighter?

Chamber lapping. Aids in extraction and protection of coating on brass == extract the brass better and in doesent damage it as much.

Polish and Tune extractor == ???? what does this do for me?

Polishing and Fitting (too much to list) and a detailed cleaning including correct lubrication == I don't need a list but don't get what it does for me?

Each gun is tested to deliver a 4-pound trigger pull before leaving the shop == how many pounds is the regular trigger pull?

I understand that some things are hard to explain but I want to know if this is something I want to put money on it
Sorry for all the noob questions.

I could've sworn we an entire thread dedicated to questions like this :ponder: Where did it go? I looked so I am not going to fault eVenom; but I will note that the info is out there, somewhere :D I am trying to go off memory on these so if I am off base on anything, EA (or anyone who knows) please let me know.

Will this affect reliability in any way? No, if anything it will make it more reliable since they increase the tension on the hammer spring which gives even stubborn primers a reason to fire.

Long term Performance? Mine is going on 2.5 years w/a couple thousand rounds (including some hot reloads) and no problems.

Safety? No effect on safety

Is this just for competition? No. While there is some debate about using a modified pistol for self defense (depending on who you talk to), in my state (Idaho) they only care if it is a justified shooting. The easier operation also translates into more accurate follow up shots as needed. If you hunt with your FsN, it could help you there as well.

Do you recommend it for SD, HD and CCW? Absolutely, my Accurized FsN is my primary CCW.

Why is this called Acurizing if this is trigger work? Because they work on more than just the trigger & you will notice a change in your accuracy.

Removal of magazine safety: Yes, it is the safety mechanism which keeps you from firing a round unless there is a magazine inserted. Some states require a magazine safety but it will effect the trigger pull. It will be a lighter pull without the mag safety but check your state laws.

Smoothing of the hammer to sear contact. I realy don't understand what you mean by crisper? Get it done, you will notice a change. IIRC, mine felt like it had a very slight double click as I squeezed the trigger before I had it done. If you were really paying attention when dry firing you may even feel a little movement like metal on metal but you had to be trying to feel it. Afterwards, it was no extra room for movement, no clicks, just boom.

Reducing trigger pull by 50%: Trigger pull refers to the pressure applied to the trigger. The pressure needed in order to fire the gun will be about half of what it is from the factory. This will effect your accuracy as well. I think the factory pull weight is about 6.5 pounds but EA's is between 3-4 pounds.

Polishing and Fitting (too much to list) and a detailed cleaning including correct lubrication: Guns come from the factory built to certain specs. Not all of the surfaces are polished and sometimes there is some play in the joints. Detailed cleaning gets the debris you miss in standard cleaning. If you're going to send your gun in to get torn apart & revamped, you may as well have them clean & lube it  Easier to work with that way anyway (at least mine is)

Will this void the warranty? how big of a deal is this? Will this affect the ability to get support by FN? As per panzermk2 - The official corp policy is YES. This is also the same for every single other maker. Have a Colt with a crappy trigger, have it worked on? Voids the warranty.
Now that being said there has been a person or two that has buggered up their guns on their own AFTER EA worked on them and FNH still warrantied them.

The stock trigger isn't horrible, but When you get the works done by EA the difference is huge. I don't swing on anyones tree. If the accurizing wasn't good, I would say it wasn't, or wasn't worth the money. But I can honestly say that the difference is night and day. But in the same sense, its not like your going to get your fiveseven and be all disappointing in the trigger pull...

my .02, which usually doesn't matter.

You guys honestly think that the trigger "isn't that bad to begin with"? Maybe I just got a lemon, but my FSN had the worst factory trigger I've ever owned. Especially for a $1K gun.

Thank you blueorison... Yeah, I remember when I used to be a shop welder & some customers would watch & keep saying; "Aren't you done yet, aren't you done yet", on & on. Finally I'd get tired of hearing it so I'd just say; "Yep, it's done". They'd look at their 'job' & say; "it doesn't look done". And I'd say; "Then why'd you ask?"...

Got mine back today. My only complaint so far seems to be that the mags don't eject very well at all now that the disconnect is gone. Has anyone or EA modified the mag disconnect to just be long enough to put pressure on the magazine, but not interfere with the trigger bar? Otherwise really impressed. I can spot the polished and lapped parts, and the trigger lost at least 2lbs :)

Could be just my gun, but I recall it being able originally to drop the promag(30rder)I have on slide lock. Now it doesn't seem to want to. I have one factory 20rounder, that If I slam home, it seems to go alittle above where it needs to be, and the mag lock engages, but doesn't click, and the mag sits there from tension on the release.. I inspected my release and it didn't look that worn.

Other than that, I can't wait to fire it hopefully tomorrow.

Hey Buffman, from what you are saying, it makes it sound like the 20-rounder overshoots the catch? How is it possible if it goes above where it needs to be and not "click" on the mag release? Could you explain more? Thanks.

That's what it seems like it's doing. If I get time tonight, I'll take a video. There is some up and down movement of the magazines (evident by the slight gap between the grip and magazine), and this particular one can be pushed up higher on slide lock, and there's no lockin of the mag release, but the mag just sits there .

Re: Elite Ammunition Trigger Work Questions, Comments, Conce

Posted: 07 Dec 2011, 05:37
by blueorison
That means the mag catch is not catching at all on the mag as it goes up, and the mag overshoots it. That is very odd.

Because I don't remember that EA modifies anything on the magazine release...

I'm sure the issue will be worked out, seems really simple. Can you confirm that the mag indent on your magazine is the same for the rest of the mags that work properly?

Buffman, I couldn't really tell which ones were the problem magazines.

They all seemed to drop free besides the Promag (I don't like anything Promag, sidenote).

Can you just do a video with the problem mags and do a close-up showing which ones have their indents on the magazines slide up past the mag catch without catching?

And which ones aren't drop free?

Sorry for the trouble I saw you use many mags really quickly and didn't get a solid picture.

Yeah sorry. Camerawoman was being impatient. Originally I only noticed the first one I show in the video to go up past what it felt like it should. I had another at the range do the same thing when I shot Pro IIs. It didn't lock the slide back, and then it didn't drop free. I stopped using that one yesterday, and then put 150 rounds through it. When I got home the one with the Pro II's still didn't drop free, but the one with the S4 now does.

I mainly was just wondering if those internal mold lines should be that pronounced.

For anyone that has the time, can you check your FSN and tell me if you have these visible mold lines on the inside of the magwell?

Could those be aiding in the cause of the drop free issue? I also noticed that Protector II no longer locks the slide back on last round, with a few mags I've tried...

Matt;

FsN's have those horizontal mold lines that go across the section of the inner magwell. They have nothing to do with the mags not dropping free. You can easily sand them out, also.

I'm quite perplexed at why the Pro II isn't locking the slide back also. I've shot the Var II round which is one of the slowest rounds EA has to offer. It had no problem locking the slide back. The same with 197, 195, 198, Pro, S4. Just the two times I've shot Pro II, it fails to lock the slide back on the last round. I know the Pro IIs are the highest recoiling rounds I've ever shot through the gun, just trying to find out a reason why..

Is it possible that, due to the heavy recoil of the Pro II, that the slide is rebounding faster than the lock is coming up under spring pressure?

I have had no issues with ProII locking slides back. Your gun along with most we have worked on lately have been tested with it before being shipped back. Something else is going on under recoil.

I found the issue, I do believe. I'll post a video later. Really sad today. Somehow the screw broke that holds the rear adjustable sight down :( EA do you guys have spare parts for the adjustable sights?

Hi Jay, I talked to you on Jan. 12th. r/e the status of my trigger job & night sights. You said the trigger job was done but not the night sights as you were waiting on the material. I'd like to get an up-date on this... Thanks, Bill Rogers

Still the same. My supplier has had issues and has had a massive delay creating havoc here. I was promised I would see them this week.

Hi Jay, I just sent you an e-mail & then saw your reply here! If the material comes in this week, GREAT! I'd like them, but otherwise I'll just pass on the night sights. I miss my FN! :(... Thanks, Bill Rogers

The problem is front blades have been drilled out all ready and rear blade's removed with empty holes waiting for tubes.

Jay, well it seemed like a good idea at the time.... Ah, plan 'B' I'll post a WTB a slide in the sales section... Maybe someone who's getting one of your new slides wants to sell their old one? Or do the old sights transfer over to the new slide?? Or do you guys have one for sale? Then I can have you ship back the rest of the gun & I'll use a different slide until the night sights are done? Thanks, Bill

Friday A great big bag of stuff came in. At least 90% of all sights will go through assembly starting Monday. Slides will start shipping ASAP.

Hi Jay, Got my 5.7 back, thank you! ;)... But, something isn't right. #1) I haven't taken it to the range yet but when I rack the slide back & them let it go forward the trigger won't fire. #2) If I put the magazine in and then rack the slide back it won't go forward unless either one of two things; #1) there is a round it the mag. & then it loads the gun or #2) I drop the magazine, then the slide goes forward & the trigger pulls... What's going on??? Thanks, Bill

Are you easing the slide forward or letting it slam? You should let it slam. I shot at least 50 rounds through it before cleaning it up and shipping it out.

Jay, with NO magazine in the gun I pull the slide back, let it go & the slide goes all the way forward. But the gun won't dry fire. Is the magazine safety still hooked up? .... With a magazine in the gun {but no ammo in the magazine}, I pull the slide back & let it go, the slide goes forward 1/8" & then stops (I'm not easing it forward). So an empty magazine is keeping the slide from going forward. But, If I put ammo in the magazine, pull the slide back & let it go it chambers a round. I then pull the slide back, let it go & it ejects the un-shot round & chambers another round....
