7 inch FsN Barrels Ready to Ship NOW

Post by panzermk2 » 12 Jan 2016, 15:47

7 inch FsN Barrels Ready to Ship In a Few weeks.
I will also be creating a slide extension along the lines of the FsN in FDE.
A forum member created that pic and I want to give credit for the pic but I don't remember whom it was and I can't find their post with it.

sick.

I remember how back in the day we discussed this, and on the forum; I'd never dream it'd come to fruition within just a few years...

now I want one....

Awesome! I've been wanting these to come out for a while now, will absolutely be ordering.

Will they work with both the MKI as well as MK2?

And also, what type of velocity are you getting out of the 7"? Specifically, SS197, SS198, and S4M?

They will just like our current barrels fit ALL versions of the FsN.

Normally 100 fps per inch, BUT velocities won't be published until our new brass can be used.

Awesome, looking forward to both the barrel and the new brass.

When you do the velocity test, will you also include the SS197 and SS198? The Elite Loadings are already so stellar out of the factory barrel that I'm primarily interested in the 7" as a way of improving on the anemic factory velocities.

I will send you one to test. Do you want to wait for some of the new brassed ammo or do you want the barrel now?

AWESOME

I'm already saving up for this and the extended slide... can't wait.... going to work some graveyard shifts and save up for a MkII to send to ya'll to get done up!

I rarely care so much about any firearm; most guns aren't where they need to be yet, even though it's getting better.

But the first time we spoke about the possibility of the extended slide on an FsN like.. 5 years ago?

I was so stoked. Because for a rifle cartridge in a pistol, that means so much more than just a USP match with an extended slide etc.

I CAN'T WAIT. LET ME KNOW WHEN THE EXTENDED SLIDES ARE DONEEEEEEE

I'm still not sure what pattern I want it Cerakoted..

Is the middle one a threaded 6" Barrel? If so that's the size I would be very interested in. 7" might be a bit too long for IWB.

7 was never meant for IWB.

Nice! My next question was going to be to ask if they will be threaded. I hope to be able to order the 7" soon! That will be a nice addition to my nightstand gun.

I know you wanted to wait until the new brass was ready, but would it be possible to get preliminary velocity #'s for ss197, ss195, and ss198 out of the 6" and 7" barrels? That would be really helpful for choosing which length to order. Right now I'm leaning towards the 6", but if the 7" offers a big gain over the 6" I might opt for the full length.

No still testing new brass.

Buffman has some 6 inch tests and like I said the 5.7 is very predictable at 100fps per inch.

I'm sorry to bug you about this, but have there been any chrono #'s taken with either the 6" or 7" barrels? Specifically with the SS197 and SS198 to serve as a baseline (as these velocities are pretty well established out of the FsN factory barrel.)

I will chrono our ammo.

It comes down to time and still settling in from the move and all the brass flowing now I am very busy.
If you notice I have been updating and publishing numbers for our new brass.

I will be adding 7 inch soon.

While I think we'd all be very interested in seeing how Elite's loads perform out of the new barrel from a ballistics nerd perspective, getting the velocity for the SS197, SS195, SS198 is what will really sell the barrel.

Elite's loads are already extremely effective and fast out of the factory barrel. While going even faster would be cool, that's not really a pressing concern. Sort of like how adding nitrous to a Lambo would be cool, but not on the top of my priorities list.

Meanwhile, the FN loads are just a few hundred FPS from where they should be. If the longer barrel is able to bring those loads up to speed, then that's huge, as the FN loads are what most of us are buying in large quantities. Knowing that in a SHTF that once I run out of S4M, I could swap in the 7" barrel and still get good velocity out of the SS198 and SS197, is what I would buy the barrel for.

For example, if SS198 penetrates 50% of the time out of the factory barrel, but 100% of the time out of the 7" barrel - that's really fantastic and worth dropping the money on.
