STP and Other NON Firearm Greases.

OK Guys for the love of God would PLEASE stop using grease and lubes not designed for firearms on you damn FsN pistols

It may be a great grease for your 1911, your 57 chevy wheel bearings etc.

The issue is these lubes sometimes attack the the epoxy FNH uses to hold in the front rail of your FsN pistol. The front rail on the FsN is pressed in and held in with an epoxy. The rail then comes loose and creates a world of sh!t.

Taking the attitude that grease is grease and I want to use this grease because it's the best damn grease in the world I even use it on my life partner is stupid.

Wait, I thought you recommended motor oil for lube?

I know oil & grease are different, I never use grease on my guns. But is motor oil ok or not? I use mobile 1 synthetic - sparingly I might add.

Roma years ago liked it. I was never a fan. More so know that I know more about the FsN and what can happen when the front rail pops loose.

That is what the front frame rail on the FsN looks like.

I just ran across this topic, I've been running Mobil 1 grease in my 5.7.

The reason is I've used it on my Glocks for years. The slide feels like it's running on ball bearings but now I'm worried.

How many instances of this have you ran across? And was it STP?

Twice and at least one time it was STP the other I can't remember other than it was something else.
