http://news.yahoo.com/arizona-assault-r ... 34095.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He said he did it as a statement as to how it easy it is to get one. He also claims that when he finally gets it, he's going to turn it over to the police department. Apparently there is some kind of 20 day waiting period:
Kelly has not yet received the AR-15 because of a local ordinance requiring that the weapon be held for 20 days to ensure it was not stolen or used in any criminal activity
In Idaho, he would have walked out with it :laugh:

Please note that his original attempt was denied because he had a TX license at the time, once he got an AZ license they could sell to him.

DENIED!!!
Not legally, gun store's choice.

My problem with this is that he publicly stated that he was not the end user for the gun. Unless he disclosed this on the form, would that make it a straw purchase & therefore illegal?

That's assuming he didn't state it on the form. For all I know, he did & followed all the associated rules. I just wanted to make sure I understood what a straw purchase was.

He attempted to buy but didn't get to in this case, that little fact may be enough to get him off the hook IF someone chooses to press charges. I doubt anyone will though.

Reminds me of my kids. The story always changes when you get caught. He figured he better put a scary black gun in the safe before his own REDICULOUS thoughts and motives could end there availability.
