SCOTUS ruled according to the constitution, if they would have ruled otherwise... there goes even more freedom in this country. There are groups out there such as the Patriot Guards: http://www.patriotguard.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, that protect the funerals and prevent these lunatics from getting anywhere close to them. I heard one of their members on a radio show, and they said the best compliment they get is when the family of the deceased comes to them and asks them if the WBC members even showed up. These heroes guard our heroes. :patriot:

I understand the ruling but I still hate how that church uses free speech.

I still find it appalling that radical groups like this continue to claim free speech to spit in the face of the people that very literally gave everything in order for free speech to exist.

I loathe them and hope they get what is coming to them, but I have to say the Supreme Court was correct. It should never be illegal to hurt someone's feelings in this country. That would create a country that can choose which things are offensive and which are not which is more dangerous than a couple hundred idiots in a Church that has no national following.

Sad excuse for a Church. I know if someone I was close to died and they showed up at the funeral I would be going to jail.

Poor excuse for a Church. I have read that most of their income come from successfully suing people they incite into doing stupid ( but understandable ) things. Some of the family are lawyers so little expense there. I just hope that when Phelps dies, people from all over the country gather at his funeral to celebrate. Party on :clap:

I am not too surprised it hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will happen in the future. Most of the people in this country are law abiding, and know that purposely running someone over with their car is a crime. As must as these idiots are despicable, they are not worth spending years of your life in prison.

As hard as it is, ignore these fools. When they stop getting attention, they will move on to something probably more despicable.

Now if someone is driving by them and has a car malfunction... (and I am not recommending or suggesting this course of action)

A group that protest the wbc protesters http://www.patriotguard.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seems to be mostly comprised of veterans but service is not a requirement for membership (neither is riding a motorcycle). They shield the funerals with flags & sheer numbers, with patriotic songs or motorcycle revving to drown out the chants from the wbc. They do so at the request of the families and are considered guests of the funeral.

They are there for anyone who has served - military, police, firefighters, emts & so on...

My idea was to go rent a Septic Vacuum Truck... a "full" septic vacuum truck. Figure out a way to hook the discharge hose to a high pressure nozzle, and then proceed to do a drive-by dousing of raw sewage on their protest. Seems fitting.

A family just lost 7 children in a house fire in Perry County (just above where I live in Harrisburg, PA) and the funeral for their children is on Tuesday, and these idiots are planning on protesting at the funeral. Pretty much everyone was talking about this at work today, and a few people had started a group called "the circle of love" or something like that (all people from central PA) and they plan on surrounding this group at the funeral and just to drown them out. People around this area are also waiting to see if someone just flat out shoots one of them, or at the minimum starts a fight since Perry County is a low population, very rural, and very redneck, close knit type of place. I could only wish someone does, might make them stop protesting in the future too.

Why in the hell would they protest kids killed in fire? Other than publicity I mean...

I know I said that the Patriot Guard is for any one in a service capacity but I would still recommend contacting them. The worst they could do is say no. From what I have read on their website, I'd bet on them showing up if they are contacted. I would.

Septic tank truck is a good idea but it would have to at least appear to an accident.

They protest anything that gives them attention...The amish girsl that got killed a few years ago, Heath Ledger, military, any famous gay that dies, pretty much anyone that the public cares about that dies they will go and protest at the funeral.

They believe that tragic deaths in America are because of tolerance for homosexuality in America. They are terrible human beings. Their version of God is a vengeful, hateful one. I hope for their sake, they are wrong.

Speaking of shutting them down... This guy http://twitter.com/th3j35t3r" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, has been bringing down terrorist websites using a tool he created. For the past 17 days he has brought down all of WBC's websites for over 17 days now, they've been completely inaccessible.

Ok, so the only remaining problem with the septic tank thing is that you may still disrupt the funeral - just need to make sure wbc is down wind of it.

Hell, get creative :D Water balloons filled with sewage? Sewage & pepper spray mix? What about a radio controlled crop duster or bomber filled with the stuff?

Or capture some wild skunks. Do a "drive by" & release them right in front of (or roll them into) the wbc. Just use a rental van with the numbers/license plate covered up. And get full coverage cuz that vehicle wont be any good after that :laugh:

Super glue their car doors shut?

If anyone needs prayer it's WBC. Phleps daughter is the lawyer that represents them in any litigation. While it's morally reprehensible the way they perverse the Christian faith, they will have their time in front of God and be taken to task for their wicked ways. Thank God there are folks out there to protect families of loved ones mourning a loss and protecting the deceased. If they showed up in my town it would probably get ugly for them because Clovis is an Extremely patriotic town for PRK.

They're at it again, this time it's Elizabeth Taylor's Funeral...
Margie Phelps -- daughter of WBC Pastor Fred Phelps -- took to Twitter today to announce the church is going to picket non-lesbian Liz's funeral ... all because Liz was apparently some sort of gay "enabler" and (God forbid) an AIDS activist.

I consider my-self a hardcore Christian conservative and for any non Christian readers I'd like to say that Biblically what they do is much worse than anything they protest. I kind of think maybe they are not Christian, but possibly intentionally trying to turn people against Christianity. Ohh and I know that we're not supposed to make religious comments so if this crosses the line please delete it, and it won't happen again. It's just anytime someone talks about these nutjobs I feel like it's my responsibility to scream "THEY'RE NOT ONE OF US", and if someday for some reason I drove by WBC and noticed a very suspicious unmarked box-truck that wreaked of fertilizer and either I'd just keep driving.

Believe me, even non Christians know these people are nutjobs. I do doubt they do this to specifically turn people against Christianity, I think they believe this crap they spew. They(the Phelps family) disowned their own daughter because she questioned what they do.

Apparently a national news agency (forget which) is showing the various ways Memorial Day is celebrated around the country. They've done this for a few years & this year it is Pocatello's turn. Every year we put on what is called the Field of Heroes (http://idahofieldofheroes.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) & the news agency is going to be filming that.

I just heard that wbc is in town & going to protest it. If they are, it is not on their schedule & I don't see anything in the news yet. Looks like I might end up going after all, will see if any extra bodies are needed tomorrow :ponder:

Zombies are good!
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/zo ... 13653.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Westboro Baptist Church had recently announced that it would be holding one of its protests outside the Joint Base Lewis-McChord in DuPont, Washington. But last Friday, the controversial group was met with a far larger group of counterprotesters—dressed as zombies.
...
The event [facebook] page received such a positive response that the zombies outnumbered the protestors by a reported level of 300 to 8, the News Tribune reported.

These guys were set to protest a military funeral on campus on July 5th, the officer killed in the Fort Bragg shooting is an Aggie, class of '92. Call went out and a group of students formed what was dubbed the maroon wall. There were just under a thousand ags at the church and the cemetery along with the freedom riders (at least I think that is what they are called). Hate to derail but thousands more will stand and answer here for him at muster this April when his name is called. The school may be a cult but its a good cult.

http://news.msn.com/obits/anti-gay-past ... ps-sr-dies" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Fred Phelps Sr., the founder of a WBC, who blamed almost everything, including the deaths of AIDS victims and U.S. soldiers, on America's tolerance for gay people, croaked Wednesday @ midnight at the ripe age of 84.
For those who didn't like the message or the tactics, Phelps and his family had only disdain. "They need to drink a frosty mug of shut-the-hell-up and avert their eyes," his daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, once told a group of Kansas lawmakers.
Funny how he couldn't take his own medicine. If he & his had such disdain for what other people do, why didn't he & his "drink a frosty mug of shut-the-hell-up and avert their eyes"?

Thank God for dead bigots!
Wouldn't it be nice if the nation showed him the same respect WBC showed to other people at funerals?
BBQ & an outdoor rock concert seems fitting.

Me thinks that such a high concentration of losers in one place just begs for a grenade.
