true blue for .45 auto
Any body have load data for .45 auto with 230gr jhp and using true blue. My older books don't even have true blue listed. I will be getting some new manuals after Christmas but, any suggestions would be helpful.

I would suggest NOT using TB for 45acp and definitely NOT for a heavy bullet.

Why would you not use it? I have loaded a bunch of 40 and 45 with it and have had no trouble.

Here is a link to published load data for True Blue. http://www.ramshot.com/wp-content/uploa ... _rifle.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
While it can be used for .45ACP, you can achieve the same velocities at a given bullet weight with lower working pressure by choosing other powders.

Thanks OBS.
Also noticed that it looks like Silhouette is an all around powder for most of my handgun calibers - good to know.

Bingo see below. While you can use it it's not really very efficient for the 45 and that efficiency drops with heavier bullets.
You will be running higher pressures where as if you use a more appropriate powder like 231 you will get better performance at much lower pressures.

Thanks for the responses, I tried the loads on the Ramshot site. they seem fine. They do however use 6.8- 7.6 grains, whereas titegroup and 231 use 4.9 and 5,4 respectively. The latter two seem more economical. It is nice to know I have another choice. Also God Bless the families involved in the Newtown, Ct. shooting.
