Usernames

Post by f3rr37 » 19 Sep 2008, 08:31

I've updated the user registration settings in an effort to prevent problems to an upcoming feature to the forum, something completely new, never seen before. My lips are sealed, but I'm working quickly :p

The user registration now has a limitation on user names, they can only be alphanumeric characters, no spaces or symbols allowed.

f3rr37, wanted to know why I could not have the username "Savior 6" as on the previous site. Had to go with Savior6 (no space). Not that big a deal but it sure makes less to remember when dealing with a number of forums. If you have the power to change it then I would appreciate it. I currently use two versions of the name and this adds a third. It just makes it easier to remember Forums= one format, Image host= another format. Thank you.

There is another feature that is going to be added to the forum, and it only likes one word user names from what I gather. :)

I'm sorry savior... but for the new super secret addition to the forum (that we can't yet talk about) this is a requirement. Usernames that are anything but alphanumeric characters, you cannot use the new addition. I'm sorry, I can't change it. I do hope you forgive me as we launch into this new dimension of the forum.

I just did some testing and it seems to me that spaces and other non-alphanumeric characters do work with the upcoming addition.

Savior6, I will change your username to Savior 6.

It may seem like no big deal, but f3rr37 got me squared away. I asked him to change my username and it was taken care of in no time. That's customer service. :thumb:

Ah, so that's what happened earlier. My first thought was the website crashed again.

I`m having a hard time following just what transpired here. Maybe because I didn`t get the super secret decoder ring in my last box of Choco Puffs :skep:

I do have a question though, whatever this sooper dooper upgrade has done for this site, is <profanity>HAT one word, or two? :D

Yeah, you`re prolly right. I just like the idea of calling them <profanity>-shat, or a-shat, as well. :D

When you click on "Members" & go to the list, isn't there supposed to be a drop down box next to "Username begins with:"? There used to be drop down anyway.
Then click on the down arrow w/box, there is nothing there now & I can't type in it either. Did something get fixed until it was broke again?

I sent a msg to Fuzzy but I think he was at work & probably forgot.

I swear... That guy has the attention span of a ferret :p :D
