Saiga 12 GA shotgun opinions?

Post by Nickf150fx4 » 22 Mar 2011, 18:32

So I'm in the process of looking for new shotgun and the Saiga 12 ga really jumped out at me. The thought of being capable of having a 30 round drum is pretty sweet i have to admit, but does anyone have any first hand experience with one of these? I have heard that the price of the 30 rd drum is also very spendy so that's kind of a turn off but when your the only one that can hold that many they are able to bend your arm and jack the price up. I've looked at tons of videos online of these shotguns and i like the looks and they seem to be a blast to shoot. So if anyone has any experience with one of these please let me know what you thought!

thanks,
nick

Yep yep. I have one that I dumped 1600 into. It fun and lighting fast. I changed the gas system to an adjustable, trigger work, stock adjustable, rails, barrel threading, surefire, red dot, pistol grip so moved everything fwd the right way. This thing will dump them quick and shreds card board. Its a beast. Yes I have a few drums and the big stick mags. I have heard they are doing very well with them in three gun. There is also a push to do the "B" word since they are not "sporting" rifles..... Do it. Take the plunge. They are fun toys.

i have one as well, but i have not had the pleasure of using any drums for it, only the 10rd mags. but it is still a LOT of fun and i plan to SBS it here in the next few months. they were def worth their price a year or so ago, but now with that "B" words floating around it has caused them to go up a LOT here locally. at the last gun show they had several, and the cheapest i saw was 1400, over 2 grand for anything more than basic. i knew i should have picked up a second one when i bought mine :(

Ya I went to my local dealer to see if they had one and he said they haven't seen one in a few months! So I might just have to buy it from Mississippi auto arms and it will give me an excuse to customize it as well!

It really is crazy that the prices are so different from one place to the next. I am glad I live where its still sheltered from the crazy prices. I guess it helps knowing a ton of good people that like to shoot as myself and still have somewhat good deals. It's a shame that you could pick them up for $350 at one time. Now look at em

yeah the reason it took me so long to get mine was because they were under 400 here and every time i went to buy one, i always just bought something more money seeing as "its cheap, i can pick one up at anytime"....i paid 500 for mine, then the collapsible stock, shark bite muzzlebreak and 10 10rd mags and im set for now :)

anyone else notice how many saiga 12's "sons of guns" have gone through? looks like every episode they show at least 1 of them lol

K-Var has the new ones in stock with the LRBHO and they are super easy to convert, but they are $675. Also gunforall.com supposedly has some in stock for $499 on special, but you'd have to call to be sure.

$499 sounds tempting...what do you guys think of the customized ones you can buy from Mississippi Auto Arms there's a bunch of
different setups ranging from all different prices. It still seems like you could build your own and customize to your own personal likings cheaper than what's on there or
am I wrong?

At those prices, I would recommend customizing your own. Its fun, you'll learn a lot, and save a hell of a lot of money. My buddy went full out with his and it cost him $1300. Much cheaper than those prices. There are a lot of do-it-yourself videos on youtube, but I guess if you feel more secure having someone else do it then go for that.

They really are easy and fun to work on being so big and open. I really had fun working on the ones I have.

I haven't shot it as much as I'd like, it's my first shotty, and I did all the work myself. Worth it, but I'm considering letting it go in favor of a KSG if I can find one...

Ya I will probably just buy a stock one if I can find one and just customize it myself! It seems to be a lot cheaper that way plus I'll get the experience. I just joined the saiga 12 forums so I'm sure I'll get more than enough help there and there seems to be a ton of ppl here on the fiveseven forums that own them in case I need help!

Damn that's a nice setup :thumb:
