You come on down to Utah and I WILL take you out shooting . Out by promotory I have a 1000 yd 36" steel plate set up thats 1&1/2" thick that I use for .50 and as long as you dont use AP it has held up really well. (it does have 3 APIT penetrators stuck in it like arrows)

I have done reasonably well with my McMillan A-4 in .308 but I've got a buddy with a 6.5x284 and he can smoke me everytime. you really notice the flight time differance between them. The area its at tends to have unpredictable winds and we have actually had a 20 mph cross at the target and a 5 mph head at the shooter position. So yes its challenging at times.
With the .50 not so much

You have to bring that with you to next years Fuzzy Shoot. We need more long range weapons. I'd even bring my own ammo to shoot in it - if you let me :D

Yea you know I was tempted to come up to OR but I wasnt able to get the time off . Besides I would need to get a proper address for the 5320.20's so I could bring the NFA stuff and also avoid passing through CA and WA on the way because FUZZY is surrounded by NON NFA states.
Mabey next year.

No time off I can understand but the CA/WA excuse wont fly :p
From Salt Lake just take I-15 north then I-84 west thru Boise, you'd never have to go thru WA or PRK. After Boise you can stay on the freeway to Portland & come down I-5 (faster) or you can go west at Ontario, OR on US26 to US20 (shorter). I am sure Fuzzy would be glad to provide you with an actual address and all he'd charge is to let him shoot whatever you bring :laugh:

oh, VERY nice. She is so clean. I like the rec crown. That scope looks like it's sitting a bit far back... don't blast yourself in the face.

16x? Time for some 800-1000yd strings. My newbie buddy just ordered the same scope based on my recommendation. I wanted him to get a NF, but it wasn't in the budget. I also had no clue Remy 700's were in the 500 range these days. Had always assumed they were about 700.

Very beautiful rifle; I think Alex or someone wanted that exact rifle. Do all PTR's come with that stock, and is that rail removable/replaceable?

Why put a can on it? From that far out, they wont be able to accurately shoot back anyway :laugh: At least that is my reasoning as to why I went with that big a$$ scope. It also has an illuminated mildot reticle (green) with variable brightness like the REMT3 - 11 settings even (1 is for night vision)

The scope being a bit far back is why I said it is a bit too much scope. But you can't move the scope any more forward, it will prevent the cocking handle from locking open or even reaching the full rearward position. The rail on top is not removable, the one under the barrel is removable.
No, that is not the usual PTR stock. The MSG91 has one like it but the others are just plain old regular ones. Their website: http://www.ptr91.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Another expensive Christmas season.
I've been talking & talking about getting a 6.5 Grendel upper for my AR & I finally did it. Went through Quality Arms out of Rigby, Idaho. I called them about 11AM today & gave them the go ahead & they called me back that afternoon saying it was finished.

I was hoping we could keep this thread alive for awhile its always nice to check out what others are expanding into. After 25 years I finally got my first rifle back I bought a Ruger mini 14 5F in 1984 and owned it until 1992 when I traded it to my Sgt for a Rem 700 in 22-250.. When I heard his health was deteriorating I paid him a visit and during the hours long conversation I ask if he still had it and would he sell it back to me. We agreed on a price and my very first firearm came back home with me . Here it is next to my AC556.Image

.357 Magnum but WA has a 10 day waiting period so I can't say how it shoots yet. Thankfully I already have plenty of ammo for that caliber.

They had a pimped one once upon a time, not full HQ style but pimped. I would probably never buy a gun like that but if I did, it would be one of these
